Why do people ask where to get something and then accuse you of affiliation?

Really p***ed off!!!!!!!!!!! Replied to a thread where someone was asking for help in purchasing an item and provided them with a link.....before I know it, I am being accused of being affiliated with the company I provided a link for!
Sorry - what is it they came on here for??????????????
Apology accepted - don't know why you got an affiliated link, it should have been a direct link to the company - for which I have no connection other than being a customer.

We do get a lot of newbies who spam, but you are clearly not a newbie. The posts in question appear to be gone - can you elaborate?
Edit: From Horlock's response, it appears you posted an affiliate link without realising.Gone ... or have I?0 -
People are too quick to start trouble on here sometimes. I was even accused of being an "AE" and breaking rules by someone who jumped to conclusions.
Just ignore it if it happens again!0 -

But you are an AE - you openly admit that you used to have a different username!Gone ... or have I?0 -
All I did was go in to my favourites and copy and paste the link - have never seen an affiliate link from it myself. We used the company to buy 2 wooden venetian blinds and they were fantastic and as such we intend (when funds permit) to kit out the rest of the windows to the house.
I just thought this was a valid and sensible alternative to paying over £200 for a roller blind and was trying to help. I just couldn't help but wonder ...... what exactly the purpose of the original post I responded to was, if not to provide a link as to where to buy a wide window blind.
See above post with accepted apology0 -

Again, it is difficult to tell without seeing the original post, but sometimes you can search for something and use (and hence copy and paste) an affil link without knowing. If I post a link I am not sure of I just copy the address in it's most basic form, such as www.ebay.co.uk. An affil link would normally have lots of extras after the basic address.
I would also consider that, whilst Horlock was most gracious in apologising, it was not actually them that made a mistake. Your post was clearly well intentioned, but you did (albeit quite innocently) post something contrary to the forum rules. If it was me, I would be apologising back.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Pretty sure the link I used was http://www.wooden-blinds-direct.co.uk/thumbs.php?catid=1&design=premier - I have again copied and pasted it and not found any affiliated links - unless I am doing something odd. As I have ordered from this company and they are in my history, I just have to type in the first few letters and up it pops. I can assure you, there was nothing sinister in my original post.0
