Evening all. Love and lots of spoons to LadyL.

Made a loaf of bread for the first time in ages. I had forgotten how nice HM bread is :D.

Does anybody know anything about school buses. My sons have been approved for a zero fare pass for the school special when they start high school in September. A route plan was sent with the passes, but I am not really sure if they have to wait at a specific stop or any stop that is on the bus route. I phoned the school travel team but the woman I spoke to didn't seem to have much of a clue. She said she imagined that they could wait at any stop on the route but didn't know for sure!

I am already starting to flap as I have always driven them to school in the past and waited on the playground til they went inside. The thought of just leaving them at the bus stop is terrifying me. Pathetic I know :o

what usually happens in Valliland is the big one turns up and pesters until she's fed - I think it was kitty revenge - she decided to starve in the hope that the little kitty would succumb to starvation and then she'd be left in peace :rotfl:

In the town where OH lives (which is tiny) the Mr T and Mr M are in the town centre - so you pay to park. In Mr M's you can pay 50p for an hour or 80p for 2. If you spend more than a £5 you can get your parking money back...

    so I did

    twice

    ;)

Prettypennies - do you know which company has the contract for the buses? if so phone and ask them. Failing that try you local contract services (ours is TM travel and stagecoach;)).
make sure your boys have contingency systems in place - ie what they will do when they miss the bus? (Because they will). I used to run through 'what will you do if...' scenarios with my two, usually relating to losing money/losing phones. Majke sure they know how to make a reverse charge call.
I stopped worrying about DD the day she and her mates forgot/did not know they had to get off the train at Sheffield and change to the Meadowhall one and ended up at Stockport.

I think it is first bus, so I will try calling them tomorrow. Good point about the reverse charge call. I will go through that with them. I am just looking round for some suitable phones for them so they can call me if the school bus doesn't turn up or is late I am not really sure what sort to get. I don't want it to be too flash so that it is not a target for thieves but my own mobile is so ancient (green screen and heavy as a brick!) they would be embarrassed to be seen with one like it.

I have thought about doing a test run with them on the alternative bus they would need to take if they miss the school bus. They would need to take a bus into town and back out again apparently. I haven't used a bus since my car broke down 5 years ago and I remember being shocked at the time how expensive it was :o

BY all means PP do the test run with the buses...YOU will then KNOW they know what to do. Chances are the buses will pick up from 'normal' bus stops - that's what they do hereabouts.

Lady L - Sending you strength, love and spoons xxx

JulieJim - 16 days! Please tell me you have access to a WM if not then find a laundrette rather than take the kids entire wardrobes!

DS1 has heard back from one of the jobs he applied for and has a trial shift on Wednesday night:T:T:T

I feel very satisfied with the flying done this morning. Master bedroom and the kids rooms are in much improved.

I had a lovely lunch with DH's colleague who had the baby I managed to get breastfeeding. They were going to register the baby so we met before hand. It was fine when we got there but it was raining in sheets when we left.

Big kids are all in foul moods. It's taken DH hours to get home because the motorway is shut for an accident. As a result of this there is no way they can get to the football tonight. Despite the fact it is televised on Sky they have all thrown major strops. Personally I think it will be a miracle if the pitch isn't waterlogged. My rain catcher is showing 1.75 inches since this morning!
