  • HHi Done DD has packed but wants me to double check she has got everything so going to do that have a coffee and will carry on with the ironing as there isn't a lot in the basket.

sexymouse Sugarsoap is good for removing grease but try a test patch first as you dont want it to remve the paint to.

    Question

RE the greasy walls in my kitchen, what would people use to wash them down with? They are painted with a matt yellow paint.

    I have in:

    Stardrops,
    Washing up liquid
    Borax
    Soda crystals
    white vinegar
    liquid bio washing detergent

I use a weak washing up liquid solution, vacuum the walls first to get any dust off then wipe top to bottom (or you get streaks) with a damp sponge, and dry with a clean towel as you go. For really stubborn stains get some sugar soap. HTH

Thanks for the replies. Will try the washing up liquid one first I think, as I've just found that my rubber gloves have got a hole in the fingers - they seem to have been dissolved and made all sticky by something I've been cleaning with, and I have a funny feeling it may be the stardrops?

One porch (front hall) now all tidy. :j I'm so pleased because it has become the dumping ground for everything.
Gonna get a cuppa and then start the kitchen. :D

Sexymouse what ever you do don't use bleach, i done a watered down version and it took paint and all off.

Got some useful remnants in Fabricland to put in the quilt I'm making for DH. It's the first time I've been in the new one - more choice than the old one across the road had - I'll be back!.

oh 'eck! I had a look at their website... thank goodness they're nowhere near me, or I'd be adding to the fabric stash:D

There's a HHI planned for tonight and an early bedlinen change; him indoors has done another batch of laundry so I'll probably need to hang that to dry when I get in after taking 2 Amazon sales to the post office after leaving work...

    Thanks for the welcomes :)

DS1 in bed napping and just having a sit down feeding the bub before making myself some lunch then tackling the table and cupboard doors. Will do floors after ds1 has had dinner (he's 2 and 10 months) as inevitably there will be mess! He managed to fold down the drop leaf table with himself under it and send his lunch flying so living room needs doing too....
