Is it just me? Does your OH have no fashion sense?

I have it the other way, GF wears jeans and a long sleeved round necked t-shirt and trainers every chance she gets, with a zip up cardie if it's cold, and a big coat in all but the hottest weather. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Somebody else alluded to it. You will have to take charge. Decide on a look(s) that that you want for him. Take yourself to a decent mens shop (not M&S, not Debs) check out you locality for stores like Great Clothes, Slaters and small independents. Check out what they have, you will probably find a range totally unlike a typical High St store (but beware of the Wolsey brand, that really is for old men). Dispose of all existing garments that you don't like. Take OH shopping!
The tears & shouting will end.
Oh and its not necessary to travel to the South of France or Italy.0 -
No, my OH has no fashion sense at all, nor colour sense either! He's comfortable in shapeless jeans (he prefers charity ones if possible) and it seems the worse they are, the happier he is!
He does wear smart trousers and shirts for when he works out (he works from home mainly) but then he'll wear sandals to complete the outfit!
He does have decent clothes and he will wear them if I put them out for him, pack them for holidays etc, but his own choice is appalling!
He has simply no idea how bad he looks, and if we remark on it, he will choose the worst items, simply to annoy us, thinking it's very funny, so I just leave him to it (unless it's important enough to make him wear decent stuff when he knows he has to and then there's no argument).
If he has new clothes bought for him he admires them, then they either get put away and get forgotten about, or he wears them constantly and I've a struggle to get him out of them to wash, but then when i do, he goes back to the old stuff and the cycle starts again!
I really don't think I'm going to change him now (after 30 odd years) and I simply don't want to waste energy trying to update him when he doesn't want to be changed. If he gets laughed at then that's his problem, but TBH his friends seem to accept him as he is (or at least to his face they do!)"It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0 -
You should see how my OH dresses then, he has to wear a uniform all week so when in civvies he wears skate shoes, loud check or camoflage shorts (pretty much all year round), obscure punk band T shirts and hoodies or a denim jacket over his hoodie. If he goes out for the night, he wears the loudest shirt he can possibly find, drainpipe trousers and brothel creeper shoes! He's 46. I've given up trying to suggest he try other styles of clothing as he's quite happy in what he wears. Although 23 years ago when we met I liked his dress sense so I can't complain really.Over futile odds
And laughed at by the gods
And now the final frame

BTW, one of his friends has started posting old photos on Facebook, so I'm being reminded of what he looked like!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
as a bloke fashion is for the vain and those who want to be parted of there cash, its a total scam.
i dont give a flying rats !!! what anyone else thinks, as long as I have been scrubbed and dont smell.
why !!!! money up the wall spending £30-70 on a shirt or a top when I can get a perfectly serviceable T shirt for £2 :cool:0 -
Fashion is an individual thing. I think I dress well and as far as I am aware, so do others, but in reality as long as I am comfortable, that's all that matters.
I often see people wearing things I would never wear but it's no business of anyone but the person wearing an item of clothing as to what they wear. I wouldn't dream of telling my OH what to wear, even if I have my preferences as to what she does. It would set alarm bells ringing that she doesn't like me the way I am, if she asked me to change my wardrobe.0 -
OP, this is MSE:money:
Why are you wasting your money on Armani for your DH who clearly doesn't have any interest in changing HIS style at the moment (or changing to expensive designer labels either).
MY DH used to wear jeans and a T shirt and his slip on suede shoes everywhere. He would wear a shirt if we were going out to tea.
He would dress appropriately if we had a 'do' to go to.
Over the last year, now he's 40, he's started to want to dress a wee bit smarter, so when we were in Orlando last year we kitted him out at the Tommy Hilfiger outlet store.
He liked the look so much he has expanded on it, and now probably buys a few more polo shirts than Tee shirts.
I am quite happy to see him wearing something a bit different , just for a change, but I really didn't mind him wearing jeans and tee shirt, it was part of 'him' really.
I know for a fact he would never have worn something different on a regular basis just because I asked him to. On a one off ,maybe, but I would never expect him to wear my taste in clothes on a regular basis.
I don't wear high heels and tights on a daily basis (even though DH says I look really nice, and look very smart in them with a nice skirt) so I'd not expect him to do my bidding either.;)
If you feel that strongly about it then go through your wardrobe, find a few things you don't really like and wear them for a few days.:pMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Aside from the drainpipes and brothel creepers I have all these things - but I don't wear them all the time. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
