Another vote for Settlers... I love that game!Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0

I find Settlers needs 3 people to play well tho... is this for games for a couple?Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
Have a wander around the charity shops before you spend too much on brand new games. You'll find some real gems in there.0

Carcasonne, Backgammon and Pandemic (latter being a co-operative game) are my favourites.0

Blockus has always been my family's favorite board game. It's fun and easy to play. Rummikab is good too.

You might also find Robert Kiyosaki's Cashflow 101 boardgame exciting. You will learn a lot about finances and have fun as well.

Another vote for yahtzee, and I love Cluedo, although it's not so good with just 2 players.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

I think it depends on your age and outlook on life.
We like chess, yahtzee, battleships and junior monopoly if we are playing with the kids.
If it's just us, or us and like minded friends, Chess, yahtzee, Risk, Oxford, Articulate and Absolute Balderdash.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
For 2 players I'd vote for Cribbage and Backgammon.
For more players Risk, Poker and Cribbage.
For silly fun Cranium.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Save your money and don't buy Rummikub. You can play it with cards - you just need to shuffle together two packs! OH and I play it all the time... think it's called Canasta when you play it with cards. If you like Yahtzee, buy a packet of 5 dice from a pound shop and print off your own scorecards.
Sorry if all that sounds a bit cheapskate but this is MSE and honestly playing rummikub with cards works just as well, plus you can use the cards for infinite games! Poker's great for two!
I'll second whoever suggested Carcassonne (sp?). I hate strategy games but we were given it as a present and I was surprised to find I love it! We've even bought expansion packs!
Boggle's great if you like scrabble!0 -
Game of Life, Guess Who played with silly questions ('Does he look like a serial killer' etc)
Oh! That's just reminded me of a funny coach journey where me and my friend played the Tesco own brand version of that. For some reason we kept pulling out the same characters over and over again - it was hysterical on a long hungover journey!
Anyway, I second (third? fourth?) The Game of Life, it's great
