Board game recommendations

Hi
I hope I've posted this in the right place as I wasn't sure where else it'd go - feel free to move it if needs be! :o

My DH and I absolutely love playing Scrabble (could probably give Mr and Mrs MSE a run for their money!) We've got a week off together later in the month where we plan to do as little as possible. We've said we'll each buy a DVD and we'll buy a couple of new board games. I think Rummikub (sp?) looks good but are there any others which people can recommend? After a bad experience where a Monopoly game lasted 4 hours one holiday, we're not too keen on that :rotfl:Any other suggestions?

    Hi,

I absolutely love playing Risk, it can go on for ages but I love it. It's like a strategy game with a big board of the world. Check it out see if it's your cup of tea. It's great to have a bottle of wine, nice music on in the background and some nibbles. In winter we play it and make our own mulled wine and light the open fire, heaven!

Backgammon and chess are favorites too. Trivial Pursuits good too.

    Have fun!

we like 'who's in the bag'

you get a bag with a pack of cards inside. each card has the name of three celebs/personalties who you have to describe without mentioning the words in their name - similar to taboo i suppose but with people.

you can also buy extra card packs - when/where's in the bag

one that was very popular with Oh and a couple of our friends when we holidayed together was 'Dirty Minds'..............its quite innocent really! you get three clues (yes they do sound a bit risque) and have to guess the answer and its always really clean (we used to play it while the kids were watching a video) and really funny.
I know Argos used to stock it, but check ebay if not.
(er - me and OH used to play it at home and we never managed to actually finish the game - it put too many ideas in our heads!).

We're card players here so poker and cribbage are high up on the well played games. Yahtzee is loads of fun too once you get the hang of it.
