Holiday Auto car rental refund -Any ideas !!

Hiya,
I booked 2 cars through holiday autos for collection from la Rochelle 0n 24/7. When i booked i had to order them seperatly so 1 was with Europcar , the other was with National Citer.
When we arrived at the airport i collected my 1st car (Europcar) and paid the deposit with my credit card with no problems, whilst National citer would not accept my card for the 2nd rental .We then had to hire a car from another company at an inflated price.
First thing the next day i contacted holiday autos and informed them of the problem , was given an incident no. and told there would be no problem - they just had to confirm it was a no show and we would be refunded.
Since then ive contacted them 3 times only to be told that its still being dealt with and as soon as they contact the supplier ill get my money back.
Any ideas on how to go forward or how to actually email them
Cheers

I would raise a claim with your credit card company. In addition I'd try to get some compensation from the hire company as you incurred additional charges (its a long shot !!).
  • hi i am currently arguing with them as Europcar charged me an extra £45 for bringing the car back 39minutes late, when the grace period is 30 minutes and they kept us waiting about 20minutes before we could drive off....grrrrr.....

    email address for them: ukcustomercare@holidayautos.co.uk
I have also filed a claim with my cc company and would suggest you do the same.

Nasty - £45 for such a short time seems unfair - I wonder could this be handled the same way as bank charges?
Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!

I'm wondering if this was actually a credit card problem and nothing to do with Holiday Autos at all? Why would National Citer not accept it?

Was the payment to National actually declined by the credit card company rather than the hire company themselves ? If so have you had a chance to you ask them about it.

They just said they couldnt accept it
  • ouch! i book all cars through carhiredetective.com and never had a problem. It´s easier to go through a broker, cheaper prices and easier to delegate to someone else to deal directly with the rental company.

I did a double booking once, just called the number to cancel and it was refunded into my account by the end of the week.
