I use phenergans for my ds (10) for flying as he just spews everywhere. You have to remember to dose him the night before but if it's long haul then he has a dose just before we fly as well so he can sleep. I think I had to get it from Chemist Direct as Boots refuse to sell it now

Bands make him feel sick strangely enough and nowadays he waits till he steps out of the car to puke - usually over his shoes!!

My local chemist offered me this no problem so might be worth checking at an independent chemist. There is no way I could remember the night before. I had no idea you had to do it so early! Thanks!

Before putting the little one in the front just check what the latest info is for them going in the front with airbags.
I read it some time ago and my kids have their own children now so I didn't take all of the info in.
But I am sure there will be others that know the full info about it.

He already knows that the front seat is Daddy's seat and that is that!! I had to be 12 and I am 33 now so the same guidelines are still flying around

We always had a bucket or bowl in the car with a black bin bag and then disposed of when needed!
My daughters are now 20,19 & 17 and phenegan when younger and later years sturgeon tablets.
On long journeys half a tablet the night before and half in the morning. I also have been travel sick all my life and sometimes just used a quarter of a tablet.
When I was pregnant obviously i couldn't take anything so tried the wrist bands but never worked for me. For some reason now at the age of 55 I have "grown" out of it? I never feel sick now and never take anything so really weird. Just wait 50 years and he will be fine. lol

My friend gives her 7yr old ds a penny hold and NOT lose! It does apparently work.

My dd (4) however held onto her penny, fell asleep, lost it and then was sick......

Ok, I'm going to sound like a right loon now, but I find that the vibrations from resting my head against the window/door of the car with my eyes closed stopped me feeling travel sick.

Me too. Windows are best as they are cooling too. :D I often get on the bus home from work (almost 2 hours), rest my head against the window and nod off.

I have regularly used Sturgeron - only one that works for me.

As far as eating goes, I am a lot better for NOT eating anything. When I used to have to go on small boats for scuba diving trips I would really struggle as when you are putting your gear together ready for the dive you aren't looking at the horizon and it would get me straight away. Many a day I spent laying on the boat looking at the sky, I just couldn't get my gear together, even though once in the water I was fine, it overpowered me that much.

So, whenever I went I tried to just have a dry piece of toast for breakfast and that helped me an awful lot! Even better if I have nothing at all, I won't feel sick.

If I'm faffing about, or not looking at the road when the car starts off then it's got me, and won't go away until I lay down without moving for half an hour.

I'm rarely actually sick, but I get hot, sweaty and very irritable, feel like i'm spinning and just feel generally awful.

I never get it when I'm driving, and very rarely on planes!

    Air-Con makes a massive difference! :)

I use the travel bands and usually takes sips of water and suck on a sweet usually polos or someother kind of mint to take my mind off it. I feel sick when travelling on country roads or if I fall asleep in the car (I used to always sleep in the car when I was younger). My travel sickness is onlt happened in the last few years since I started having panic/anxiety attacks.
