I treat it as a hobby, been comping since June and had some nice wins ( some strange ones as well)
I see it as cheaper than online bingo - which was my other hobby lol - and sometimes I get a surprise in the post
It can have other benefits too I recently won tickets to a Jazz blues festival which was this weekend and I was so looking forward to it - but I got a dodgy tummy fri night and couldn't go - so a lovely couple I know who love Jazz and blues I gave them the tickets
turns out the hubby had been made redundant this week and was really down, this little gesture made their week
that feeling of making someones day was better than any winning feeling I have ever had!
So don't always judge it on how much you win
treat it as a fun hobby and if you win it is a bonus i do
that said I hope the comping fairy visits very soonBack after a long break!
Looking to get back in the winning way :j
Massive thanks to all who post comps!0 -
All down to luck, I spend 3 hours a night when kids go to bed and only enter the ones that I or someone in the family would appreciate and have a use for. I think I've been really lucky with all the smaller value comps, the biggie is still to be won lol, but not holding my breath and it's the smaller wins that keep my interest and it give you something to look forward to when the postie comes, a lot of them do just turn up without any warning and it's great to get surprises. Well I have been comping for 17 months now and its my hobby. I just enjoy entering comps - its something I can do in the evenings etc when watching tele. I am not sure how many I enter each day but I enter by End date. I do try to always get a couple of days ahead each month though as there are so many comps at the end of the month.
I have to say I tend to do very well each month, I normally average 20-30 prizes a month ranging from small to large. But is all purely down to luck and how many you enter. the more you enter the more you win.
I would say I do normally get at least one £100+ prize a month, and I do also receive alot of prizes I give to family and friends, and also to people on here. Its such a nice feeling to give someone a gift you know they will enjoy.
I also love the fact you can win prizes to events that you would never normally go to, and you have such a great time. The memories can be priceless.
For me I just love the thrill of winning something, gives me a real buzz!! LOL2015 Big wins: luxury 7 night holiday in sharm el sheikh, theatre tix, £123, IPad Air 16gb, Night in London hotel celebjuicetix :, Portable dvd playerT
Best 2014: £900 VIP cheltenham races day, £200 H&M voucher, £300 camera, 2 nights luxury apt Harrogate, 5 nights glamping cumbria
Total:2010: £10,531, 2011:£11,0750 -
The only way to win....is to keep entering. The more comps. you enter the more chances you have of a win....simples.
You could enter thousands of competitions and win nothing yet enter just one and win it - you would think the more you enter, the more you win, but the odds on winning a competition is based soley on that competition alone and how many enter it, not how many you have entered alongside it....
I have been regulary comping now for a couple of years, with a break which lasted until last July when I started again because I had swine flu and was bored.... I have won lots of amazing prizes, some realy rubbish ones too (the 118.menu goodybag!!!). I never enter expecting to win though, it is simply a hobby, and whilst it does save me money, and make me money (if I sell anything I win), I certainly don't treat it as a source of income.
Nothing can beat the buzz of something coming through the post especially if you have had no email/phone call before hand. I love getting red cards and missed delivery slips from DHL etc - I went and picked one up today and my mum was with me, by the time I got there, even she was excited to see what it was - that is what its all about for me, the buzz!
My success ratio isn't great, but I am grateful for every single win, even the tiny ones. I spend a lot of time comping and it sometimes gets tedious, but its worth it. We don't do much on an evening, and I am not a massive tele fan, and the internet is generally boring, so I find myself on here most of the time.0 -
I won the 118.menu goodybag too and it was the worst prize I ever got. Such a let down :mad:IWantToBeFree wrote: »You could enter thousands of competitions and win nothing yet enter just one and win it - you would think the more you enter, the more you win, but the odds on winning a competition is based soley on that competition alone and how many enter it, not how many you have entered alongside it....

Best wins: Currys wishlist, 3 Laptop's, a PS4 and an Espresso machine • fridge freezer • £100 M&S vouchers
46 wins totalling approx £3000 since September 2013.•* Thank you to everyone that posts competitions*•.:A0 -
Definately the more you enter, the more you win. I enter religiously daily, its my hobby!
I had a lot of wins before Xmas last year (began serious comping last October) I didn't enter many through Jan/Feb this year and didn't have my first win this year until March!! Since then they have come in a steady flow
I enter around 175-200 a week, not including postal and text comps. Also that is counting each magazine - eg Issue 32 as one comp and not however many there are on the list if this makes sense?
Also at the end of the month I go back 100-150 pages or so and go through incase I've missed any!0 -
I'm intrigued now... what was in the 118.menu goody bag? lol
It said t-shirts, condoms, bottle openers, & lots more but was basically aloa of tat, sent in a small envelope with a clear window which clearly showed the condoms! Mine went in the bin!

i think its all down to luck i enter about 70-100 a day and it takes me about 1 hour 30 mins sometimes, i finish work at 8pm so do it then, i have won a ipod cocking station, dvds cds, books, t-shirts, divsticks and some more small things, but i dont see you can put a average on its because its just random.2010 wins: docking station, Plantronics .audio 995 digital wireless stereo headset, 2x darkthrone albums, geisha assassin dvd. stokes gigs t-shirt, 21 bottles of jamesons whicky, knomo 4 laptop/handbags. 2x dvd, cook book.0

I see it as pure random & pure luck.If you enter a lot you may win a lot but you may not.We all have dry spells but a good win makes up for it plus it is free.I'd rather this than the lotto or such.
From comping I've had so many good things for free that I have had to pinch myself at times. Two local schools have received full football strips from my comping,I've been to New York for five nights, had lots of event experiences inc VIP Top Gear so it's not too bad.
I enter about 20,000 per year not including TAB,ITV ect so not too bad.Plus I like posting comps & hearing of the wins from my comps & giving some of my wins away.0
