I just wondered what other people's experiences have been since they stopped taking the contraceptive pill.
Since stopping, I haven't had a regular cycle. Around a week before it comes, I get horrid stabbing pains and cramps, feel sickly, and my hair and skin go incredibly greasy. I've been lying on the sofa all afternoon in pain, and I'm just pee'd off with it now!
Not looking for medical advice, just wondering what others experiences were/are.

It took a while for my routine to come back, but now I'm fine. On occassions I get a really painful one but all in all they settled down and I'm as regular as clockwork.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4 .............................NCFC member No: 00005......... .............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I feel so much better, why didn't I come of the pill before. The pain I had when I was younger I don't get that now. I have no mood swings which I got when on the pill.
I have heard it takes about 3 months maybe longer for your body to settle down.0

I came off in July. My periods last just over a day which is great with little pmt or stomach ache. Am not regular yet though but expect that to sort itself out in time.Just owe Dad £2500 for a new car

Oh how I sympathise with you. I was on the pill for about 20 years all told, came off to have kids, went back on for a year, and then decided I'd had enough and came off when DH had the snip. I used to have a 36-hour period with no pain, regular as clockwork, when I was on the pill. Now it's 4 days or more, every 3.5 weeks or so, sometimes more/sometimes less, and I'm crabby as hell for 2 days before and sore as hell on the first 2 days. Not a happy bunny. Can't wait for the menopause! I do find that a carb-heavy diet makes things worse just before/during, and that good old ibuprofen, cutting out coffee, and a hot water bottle solve the cramps. Look at what you're eating around the time of your period and see if you get cravings for certain foods, it might be different for you, but for me carbs was definitely the thing. I'd start wanting huge doorstop butties and know that the painters were due...Before you criticise a man, walk a mile in his shoes. Grapefruit. Kiwi fruit. Soya milk. They truly balance things out a bit.
I take the pill for other reasons and with what I'm reading here, well.
Greasy skill, hair goes horrible, nasty spots, tiredness, and depression like you wouldn't believe.
But.. If I take the Zumeron Oestrogen 2mg, I don't feel like any of the above.
Dunno if that helps anyone Bloody hormones!! Bloody hormones!! 0 0

Mine are regular but as for cramps etc, boy do i suffer, no problems with hair or skin and nor do i scream at people like a mad axe murderer. Have to say they only last for 2 days but they are quite heavy compared to being on the pill.0

I came off in April, but this month is the worst it's ever been. I nearly passed out in Morrisons this morning with the pain. I'm supposed to be going to a party this evening, but I can't face it, so I'm staying home as I've also got a pounding headache.
I've got an electric heat pad which is better than a hot water bottle, as you can stuff it down your trousers and it wraps right round your tummy. I'm wedged nice and comfy on the sofa right now, so I think I'll stop here all evening Here I go again on my own....0 Here I go again on my own....0

I seem to be the opposite. I was suffering with 'flooding', PMT for 2 weeks a month, moodiness, depression, spots, sore boobs, hair, cramps, you name it, and then I went on the pill and it all vanished. Yes, my mood is probably a bit 'flattened out' now as opposed to being like a blinking see-saw but it worked for me.
 I hate being a woman though. It sucks :mad:Due 26th April 2008 :j0

Have you been to the doctors, surely it shouldn't be this bad.0
