Hi all, Im in a dilemma and unsure as to what to do.
Basically I brought some sale items in M&S on weds, I went to collect them on thurs and they couldn't find them I was told that a staff member would call me back first thing on fri (this morn) I didnt hear from them so I went in. When I got there I was told that they still couldn't find them and that they had feared that they had been stored in the wrong location and that maybe they had gone back to the depot as faulty/returned goods.
I then left the store again as I was told that they would call me once a manager had looked into it. I was telephoned several hours later by a sales assistant and she stated that the manager has said that if I come back in they will refund me as they cannot find the goods and I can have a bottle of wine. I declined this stating that I dont drink alcohol and its a bit of a cheek you wouldnt offer a vegetarian a pork sandwich!! Anyway another manager came down and said that they can refund my parking cost, the original cost and a £20 goodwill voucher. But I still was not happy as the goods which I had brought were in the sale at very cheap prices I brought them in good faith and they did not store my brought goods in a secure location therefore resulting in the loss.
With what they are offering I cannot go and purchase all the goods, again as at full price it would have been approx £175. I am going to write to head office to see what they say but does anybody know whether I have a leg to stand on or not.
thanx.

Why didn't you take the good away when you paid for them. Thats what you normaly do. You haven't stated otherwise.0

I must admit by the sound of your attitude your not exactly endearing yourself to M&S. THey have made a mistake and apologised and offered you some compensation. What more do you want? Or are you trying to get £175 of goods for free?0 -
Sounds like Marks made a genuine mistake and are offering a nice goodwill gesture to you. As for the wine offer - they were not to know that you do not drink.
Just accept it as one of life's little mistakes and get on with your own life.0 -
Where is Dave Booker?0

They've offered you more than enough and more than you are entitled to so take up the offer of £20 goodwill and move on.Thinking critically since 1996....0

Agree, seems M&S are being more than fair. Legally, just in case you're interested, they actually only have to give you a refund; you're entitled to nothing more!0
-
No offence, but it sounds like you're perhaps a little bored of life right now and blowing this up to be a major incident when it's really not.
Just chill out a bit and see it for what it really is, nothing.0 -
Wow, if it was me I would take the bottle of wine. Even if I didnt drink it, I know plenty of people who would appreciate a nice bottle!
Or, take the £20 and put it towards the next sale they have.
But seriously, you dont need to contact their head office. They will back the store up, as the store have offered you a goodwill gesture, which they didnt really have to do in the first place!0 -
M&S made a genuine mistake, and offered you a very fair solution to say sorry.
You sound like a very difficult customer! They're not psychic, so unless you wear a t-shirt saying "I do not drink wine", then how were they do know??? It was a kind gesture!
And you BOUGHT the items, not BROUGHT.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Er no...it is worth a go as I have found thru escalating !0
