Sold Gold - gutted

I just sold a load of 22ct gold jewellery at the local jewellers. Got £10 per gram for it.
Had I done my research before I left, I would have known it is actually worth £20 per gram.
Sooooo Gutted.
Lesson learned I guess:(

why don't you go back and ask for your money back or something?
If they will no do that print of 1000 copies of your post and hand them out to
people goin into the jewelers.
That should screw them.0 -
Could have been worse
£8.12 a gramme here.

Edit - I have been told to correct this apparently this is the price for 9 caret gold.
However I do not think I should correct my post as I think
the site should correct their web page and make it clear that it is 9 caret gold.
My post is no more misleading then their site is.
When they post prices they should make it clear what it means.
That's not my job.
I mean if they want to give the impression they are giving a rip-off
price for gold on their site (and that's the impression I got ) then you have
to ask yourself why do they do it? Do they profit from doing so?
If so how?
It is the shops responsibility to display prices clearly - not mine!!!!!!!!!!!110 -
Slightly reassuring I must admit to know could have been worse.
Tempted to go back but shook on it so not sure how that will go down.
Think will call and see what reaction I get.0 -
Just been on to consumer direct - now I have accepted offer - nothing I can do.0

So it's now been a whole weekend since I lost my money in selling gold.
I tried calling jeweller and asking for gold back in return for money - too late gold gone to be melted. Even asked for more money (which was a real long shot) and felt like an idiot for doing it.
I called BJA (British Jewellery Association) who said yes you did get less than it was worse, towards the lower end of it's value but you weren't totally ripped off.
All this is small consolation when I sold £2.5k worth of gold for £1.25k.
I still can't get over how stupid I have been. My husband keeps telling me there is nothing you can do about it and you just need to accept you made a costly mistake.
I wish my brain would just accept this and move on....
Sorry for rambling - I just needed to get it off my chest so to speak.0 -
Just dug out an awful 22ct necklace I was given a couple of years ago says it's worth £800!!
I've never worn it!!!0 -
