I feel your pain. I'm still reeling from the final cost of my car..I too am usually clued up with these things but it was a costly mistake. I hope to learn from it in future.0

Does Kronkston have the right to post wrong information about Phil's website, possibly harming his business, with no right of recourse? It's OK, even though Mr Williams' perfectly clear and reasonable response has been removed from the site sassy-one quoted it in full so that it wasn't lost for posterity.
What a farce!
The erroneous posting is left standing, but the correction (although posted by a business) is removed.
In the interest of fairness, either both or neither ought to be removed.
Congratulations to the monitor: You just won the “Clumsy-Monitoring-of-the-Year-Award!”. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Strange thread. The gold was either 22ct (Ashtara) or 9ct (Phil Williams). Ashtara has not commented on this, but presumably there must have been some way of verifying this on both sides. Seems to be the key issue here.

It's not really that strange James.
What happened was that Ashtara sold some 22ct gold to a local jeweller and only received £10 per gram, which is way below the true market value.
There was then a post by Kronksten stating that a certain online site was offering even less (£8.12 per gram).
This information was totally wrong as the £8.12 was their price for 9ct gold and their price for 22ct was over £21 per gram, and posting totally misleading info such as this could well have an effect on the business in question.
Even though it was obviously a genuine error on the part of Kronksten, the post has been left for anyone to read but the post from the company concerned pointing out the error has been removed.0 -
So it's now been a whole weekend since I lost my money in selling gold.
I tried calling jeweller and asking for gold back in return for money - too late gold gone to be melted. Even asked for more money (which was a real long shot) and felt like an idiot for doing it.
I called BJA (British Jewellery Association) who said yes you did get less than it was worse, towards the lower end of it's value but you weren't totally ripped off.
All this is small consolation when I sold £2.5k worth of gold for £1.25k.
I still can't get over how stupid I have been. My husband keeps telling me there is nothing you can do about it and you just need to accept you made a costly mistake.
I wish my brain would just accept this and move on....
Sorry for rambling - I just needed to get it off my chest so to speak.
I am sorry about you experience.
What I would do do is pirint off some leaflets about your experience then
find out when the shop is busiest the hand then out to people going into the shop asking them to shop elsewhere untill you get a fair price.
Can't do any harm you are not doing anything illegal, if you get a few customers to turn away or express their disgust to the shop owners they might change their mind.
Also it might make you feel better.
You could initially show the shop owner the leaflet and ask if it is OK if you hand them out to people going into the shop. If they say no tell them they have no power to stop you doing that as it is true.
Tell them you have printed thousands and will be handing them out regularly to visitors.
Faced with that treat I think they would change their minds.0 -
Just been on to consumer direct - now I have accepted offer - nothing I can do.
Yes there is - leaflet their customers!!
Why not post the shops name name and address here, and on every appropriate website you can find?
You might not get your £1,500 back, but you might knock £15,000 off their business (or more people have long memories
and do not like dealing with rip-off merchants!!).0
