Refer a friend

I want to send a friend information on this fantastic site. I assumed that there would be an official 'refer a friend' type function that I could use but I can't find one.

If there isn't one, then maybe there should be.
If there is one, then it should be more prominant (or maybe I'm just blind!:))

Please, someone point me in the right direction!

There is one but as you say it's not very prominent at the moment - I believe that's being changed in the site redesign though.

In the meantime, if you go to the main site front page there are three links on the top right hand side where you can make MSE your homepage, add it to your favourites and recommend the site. It's not very easy on the eye (it's been there from the site's beginnings) but it does the job
