Speed cameras "off"

I find it hard to believe they won't renew the contract, if that be with the same contract holder or a new one
Beware, they could all spring up again in next to no time, when you are least expecting them to be there when your doing 60+ in a 30 zone
As for the software, some SatNavs have the option to turn off certain speed cameras, just becareful doing this though!0 -
Until I see the physical removal of a camera anywhere in this country, then they will all remain on my sat nav.
As has been said, they could switch them back on again without telling you, and bang, you lose your licence for being a little too heavy on the gas pedal. That's my mutt in the picture above.0 -
It has emerged that this was an experiment - two were left on in the county to see if the number of speeders went up.
The people weren't prosecuted but the number of speeders did go up. Whether they will turn them back on again now this is public... who knows. They will still be cameras to me!

Yes thanks.
I am aware of a couple left on. However the area where they did that is not an average area. Without wishing to insult people living there, I would guess the result was a foregone conclusion.
I'm in France at the moment, cameras here definitely "ON"This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -

Sorry, not saying. But think East Oxford. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0 -
There is a set of traffic lights at a cross road in my town. There is also a red light camera pointing on one direction. Today as I was approaching there was no lights on at all. Didn't know if they was on red, green, or if the whole traffic light system had been switched off.
I did start to brake and was going to pull over until I was sure of what was going on until I saw cars coming opposite which meant the lights must of been on green which I confirmed by looking in my rear mirrors as I drove past. (lights still working on for the opposite direction)
What would the ticket situation be if the lights has been on red? Bearing in mind there was no actual lights on!

You would have had a fight on your hands but records would have shown the lights were faulty.
The advice if I recall in such a case, is to treat the junction as unmarked and use extrme caution.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
The OP sounds like a right !!!!.
The removal of speed cameras and red light cameras isnt an excuse for you to break the law; responses like that; show exactly why speed cameras and light cameras are necessary.
I have to agree. As the Government keeps saying.. it's 30 for a reason. If it was safer driving at higher speed limits, then they would be increased.
I think people seem to forget that they are basically driving a loaded gun, and when laws are broken, peoples lives are put at risk. Is it worth killing that little 5 year old child who ran out in to the road for the sake of getting to your destination a few seconds quicker?
If anything, there should be more speed cameras around. We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
