Speed cameras "off"

Locally (Oxfordshire) speed cameras have been turned off, anybody know if that includes red light cameras? Also sat-nav speed warnings are now redundant, is it possible to modify the database in a Garmin Nuvi to reflect the new situation, or must we wait till Garmin gets round to an update?

Sat nav speed camera locations don't say whether or not they are switched on (or mobile sites manned), but just mark the locations.

Agreed, but they are definitely off now in Oxfordshire, so was wondering whether they could be deleted, just having a boring afternoon really.

They still exist, so Garmin will include them on their software. They could turn them on again and people would be up in arms at Garmin for not letting people know they are there lol

Yes but it's not just a matter of turning them on, the contract with the "Safer roads Partnership" has ended as far as I know. The cameras have been removed, only the yellow boxes remain.
Does anyone know if the red light cameras were operated under the same contract?

I doubt red light cameras are being switched off as well.

Your name isn't Thomas is it?

I know they (ie the Oxfordshire red light cameras) were all switched off on Sunday (1/8/10). Along with all the speed cameras and the mobile vans!

So your saying even the vans are off the road? I'm surprised they have done away with those as well.
Nothing to see here, move along.

There is no doubt that the vans are off the road.
I'm not yet 100% sure about the traffic light cameras. The only reference I can find is in a newspaper.

Should that not be "What are you smoking tonight then?"?

    Thanks.
