I can certainly live without a car, in fact I haven't learned to drive yet and I'm 26! The thing is I've llived in Leeds and Birmingham, and neither of those places are too difficult on the bus.

Having said that, I do get a lift into work on a morning, but I do walk home on an evening!

For me, I couldn't live without my personal stereo It's not particularly DFW but I promise you I get my use out of it.

    Couldn't do without the internet.

Well, I probably could, but whether I would be sane is an entirely different matter.

Also, my quaterly bus ticket - pays for itself twice over, the amount of use I get out of it. (Although it still hurts at the point of purchase. ;))
  • MAC make up, decent hair and skin products, and my mobile. I scrimp on everything else. I appreciate I would be debt free sooner if I cut back on those, but I find that a) I'm miserable and b) a strice regime just sends me into a rebellion eventually. I believe in having some treats, whatever they might entail for each person, otherwise life could seem rather miserable.

  • Without running the risk of sounding completely barking I just cannot do without vaseline. I have been putting it on my lips for about 25 years and my whole day can be ruined if I forget to put it in my bag. I feel a complete panick if i can't find it and feel as if my lips are going to drop off!! Another thing I absolutely cannot be without is my husband because when there are those horrendous buzzy moths about that attack you and try to kill you, he catches them and puts them outside....aaahhh my hero.

Ahhh, that really made me laugh! Not sure if it was the barking or the Vaseline that got me but thanks all the same ;) I've given up loads of things I'd previously considered I couldn't live without, but I guess my own computer is pretty vital as I use it all the time - addresses, email and Skype, writing letters, running spreadsheet, treading the boards, playing music etc. Nathaniel has a bad habit of easing his bulk into MY chair at MY desk and using MY computer, when he has the choice of about five others in the house, not to mention the serried ranks in his office at the bottom of the garden! He runs an IT company so most of these computers have just come our way, we don't spend a fortune buying them.

I also can't bear cheap clothes - everyone has their thing! Most of my stuff is reasonable quality (not designer, just well made and generally not bargain basement) and lasts me for years, but obviously no more new threads for Mrs Spike for the time being. But you know the one thing I can't bear to leave the house without is a hair band! Crystaltips has nothing on me and I just have to be able to tie the whole lot out of the way! I too can get into a panic and have my day ruined, but it's elastic rather than vaseline to blame!
If you can't be a good example, be a dire warning :D

    I like:

My starbucks coffee/hot chocolate and my nice lunches from the sandwich shop. I know i could save an extra £100pm by taking my own lunch to work but going out and having a lovely lunch is the only thing that gets me through the day at work!
