Just had a cold call from the above company saying that the ministry of justice has passed information to them about a mis sold PPI.
She said she didnt have the details due to security but I do have PPI with a first plus secured loan which I have previously tried to claim back as I was sure it was mis sold. She said this would probably be it and that I could claim back approx £20,000 minus 20% for their fees.
The problem is they want £299 up front for a 'pack' which they send out for me to fill in and that it would be refunded when they get the pack back.
I'm a bit dubious - has anyone else heard of this company? I'm grateful for any advice.

Hi LouLou
Please do not use any claims companies, lots have had problems and have had to pay out charges.
There are threads on this site of many, so personally if you were mis sold the ppi by the broker, have a go yourself with free help from this site.
Its pretty straight forward, with just completing the FOS questionnaire, these are in replacement of the reclaming template letters, so complete the questionnaire, send to who was responsible for setting up the policy for you, and keep a copy for yourself, this is suggested by the financial ombudsman service (FOS) in case you need to complain to them later on.
They have 8 weeks in full to respond, and make sure you get proof of posting at your post office.
You will find more details on the link below, the guidelines to reclaiming, a checklist of mis selling reasons, and the FOS questionnaire further down the page as stage one of reclaiming.

Hope this helps, but please do not trust these claims companies.
If you require any further help, please just yell.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

That is a common scam line and you should be on guard straight away
1 - The MoJ have done no such thing. They pass no information to any claims company
2 -Your insruance details are not in the public domain. The MoJ doesnt know what you have and if a firm does then they have it by unlawful means and are in breach of the data protection act.
That would be a bit like me, as an IFA, saying that the FSA have passed me details of your pension and want me to visit you. It cant and does not happen. The problem is they want £299 up front for a 'pack' which they send out for me to fill in and that it would be refunded when they get the pack back.
Or to put it another way, they want £299 to send you a form you can download for free from here to go through the free complaints process.'m a bit dubious - has anyone else heard of this company? I'm grateful for any advice.
You are right to be dubious. They have told you lies to try to get business. If they are acting fraudulently to obtain money off you then what else are they doing wrong? Will they even do the work they say they will (may claims companies dont).
You should contact the MoJ and tell them that this company has said. The MoJ regulates these companies and this company is clearly breaking the rules.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
hi there I have heard of planohead. They contacted me in april, telling me I was entitled to a reclaim for payment protection, I was unaware of this but one of there staff was rather convincing and seemed to know what they were doing so I decided to pay the fee they were asking as they said it was refundable if i didnt. They then sent me out a claims pack and after filling it in and sending it back, three months later I recieved a claim for £6600. I was over the moon with the money as I didn't even know I was entitled to it. It was quite hard work, filling in all the information that they asked for but well worth it in the end.Hi LouLou

Hi
Well done on your success, , but its pretty straight forward and easy just to have a go yourself where you lose no money and probably a better chance on success than using claims companies, lots on here are still waiting 2-3 years on unfortunately, due to being misled and badly let down in lots of ways by claims management companies, so its not recommended, not on this site anyway.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Of course, if the OP wanted to she could contact the MOJ and complain that, according to the claims company, the MOJ has passed it personal data of hers in breach of the Data Protection Act!0

I can't even see any company registered with MOJ for the above name and also nothing on google. May well be a urine extract as Amersall says.0

Unless they are to do with the recently formed Planohead Limited? No webwsite though yet!!!0
