Hiya - glad I've found your diary. You seem to be doing really well - will you be my mentor?!! lol

Oooh thank you! Not as well as I'd like but hey, we'll all get there in the end won't we. Hope it's going well for you :D

What an expensive month! I got a small bonus at work (smaller than last year, grrrrrrr!) and managed to pay a bit off my mbna card- my last remaining debt, this card. However I didn't get to use as much as I'd have liked as I had to replace the car battery- £140, an new alternator- £?? (a lot probably) and some dental work- £70. Plus lots of minor expenses like my son's first birthday, other birthday presents, train fares etc etc. But on the whole I'm pretty pleased with the progress I've made. Really need to step it up this year so I can clear it all.

My big mission for this month is try to reduce our grocery shopping. I'm not going to even confess how much I've given to Mr T this month to line his pockets... it's far too embarrassing :o

Why are all the cashback sites getting so stingy... it's not fair, I was getting used to all the free money! Quidco is ridiculous- 8p a day is all I can make there.

I have to confess to not being a very good DFW nerd this month as I've bought clothes, nice food, been out 3 times so far this month.... not good but it's been fun! We go on holiday next week and when we get back it's time to knuckle down again.

I've also fallen off the bandwagon with cloth nappies- I just can't be bothered :o

Current debt is about £7100 which means that to meet my goal of paying it all off in 2008 I'll need to shift about £645 a month

argh this stupid thing just deleted my reply!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as I said, I'm fantastic, been thinking of starting a new thread on here, still debt free but needing to raise some serious cash in the next few months, won't hijack the thread with my woes!

Mrs S I just saw the post about Tom's first birthday and I cannot believe that he's one, time surely flies!

Anyway, hijack away! You know I'm always happy to hear your plans.

In answer to your question Lyns, I took some time out as I felt very down with not being able to progress any further. Our buyers pulled out of our house and the offers dried up- I felt we would be trapped in that house forever and never be able to pay off our debts. I fell off the wagon and stopped doing NSDs or counting daily spends... my motivation had gone completely.

Anyway, we did sell the house, we both paid off our Egg loans and now I have just one debt which is going down slowly but steadily. I've crawled back onto the wagon and shamefacedly crept back onto here (I didn't realise it had been so long actually!) where my motivation has risen dramatically.

    Achievements last week:

    1. Registered our driveway on parkatmyhouse.com as our new house happens to be minutes away from a stadium and our driveway is worth a massive 20 quid per event. Hoping for a booking in mid April as there's a major sporting event there then...
    2. Had a Freezer Use-up Week instead of lining Mr Tesco's pockets.
    3. Ordered a weekly fruit + veg box to start on Monday. Probably not the cheapest way of doing things but my logic is that it will keep me out of Tesco's on a weekly basis therefore I won't be tempted by the bogofs on the corners of every aisle. I'll just do a monthly shop for soap powder, baby stuff, toiletries etc.

    Tasks for this week are:

    1. Do a BT from MBNA to Egg, 0% fixed until October...
    2. Pay in a £50 cheque for market research that I've been carrying around for 2 months
    3. Have 3 NSDs
    4. List a few books on Amazon
    5. List my wedding dress on eBay

That's enough for now! Really have to clear this debt asap as I am more than ready for another baby now but the debt will have to be gone first. 2 lots of childcare out of my salary won't allow for paying off credit cards as well.

I just BTed £5035 from mbna to egg... woohoo! 0% interest till October so what I need to do is clear the outstanding £2Kish with mbna as quickly as possible and pay the minimum into egg for the moment. One thing to tick off my list anyway!
