Glad to hear some news Mrs S! The house idea sounds ideal really, you'd be free of the debt and able to concentrate on not getting back into it, if you see what I mean?! Once a dfw, always a dfw, I reckon!! Just my ploy to keep you here of course
The buying little things (that all add up) happens to me when I lose focus, when i feel like there's nothing going on and nothing to motivate me. Maybe doing up the house dfw style will give you something to focus on and something to put in the 'I can't buy this because I need the money for x' sentence. My debt paying (and now saving!) has gone so much quicker since I was offered my summer job in america... its something to save for and to look forward to when I feel 'deprived' of some unnecessary thing!!
Take care and keep posting

Mrs_Sparkle wrote: »Thanks hun. Yep, the street we're in is pretty desirable as it's all Victorian and right next to the High St and station. If we move a mile or 2 down the road the 1930s houses are not as pretty as the Victorian terraces but you get a lot more space for your money. I think we can sacrifice the period features for an extra bedroom.
wow, thats very brave of you mrs s, don't think I could do the same, I love the proportions of my victorian flat and when I go home to mums I always wake up feeling that the roof is caving in :rotfl: I do understand the more rooms for your money thing, my ex and I did briefly look at bigger places, but I am sooooo glad we didn't bother, especially now I've gotten rid of him hehe
glad to hear thomas is doing well but you really must stop buying him clothes, he's not gonna bother if he has the trendiest trainers in the nursery!!!! take a stern telling off from me grrrr0 -
Hey Lyns and Kath, how are you two lovely ladies? Haven't spoken to you in ages. Lyns I will be gutted to leave this place but we could really do with the extra space now and there's no way we can stretch to a bigger period place in this area. Kath you're right, this is the incentive I need to STOP

I'm being tortured mrs s! I now have TWO chocolate eggs in my kitchen but am sworn to not eat them before sunday....this might just kill me :rotfl:
as for the house, sometimes you need to put the needs of the family above material things, like you say you need the space for the new additions, what was good for you and mr s as a couple has totally changed now that master thomas has joined you.
btw if you see an item of child like equipment called a jumperoo on ebay/freecycle I'd highly recommend it, my little 'neice'(four months) was in hers this evening and she was having a ball, it's like a baby walker but is on elasticated straps so she can bounce around in a fixed space, it looked like so much fun I'm going to try and find an adult sized version!0 -
Naughty girl Lyns... you just knew I'd go straight over to eBay and have a look! It does look like fun I have to admit and really want to buy one now!!! You're a bad influence;)
Step away from the eggs... think how good they will taste on Sunday (know what you mean though- I have some eggs for my godchildren and they're looking really tempting now)

Hi Mrs S :hello: Well I truly think thats a great plan with the house! I have 3 kids (plus 1 extra big one) and the amount of clutter they generate you'll need all the extra rooms you can find :rotfl:0

You're not wrong there. My house has been taken over by constant washing of nappies and babygrows and the amount of general clutter caused by the pram, bouncy chair, baby gym etc etc...
Oh, and the extra big kids are the worst in my opinionDebt at highest May 2006: £27,472.24

at least i suggested ebay and not town which is where my friend got hers, so don't even want to think about how much money that child has had spent on it! good thing auntie lyns is on hand to teach her how to stay out of debt
as for the eggs, the worst is how much I'm looking forward to the one I bought myself!!! It's a maltesers one and it actually has crunchy bits in the shell of the egg! oh I'm going to enjoy scoffing all of that while watching jack! am maybe having a few easter drinkies with a friend (j-style on here) after I finish work so might be a bit late before I get to them.0 -
