I've just remembered that saying, you get the face you deserve in your 40's
I suppose i do deserve it really, years of a bad diet, way too much convnience food, drinking, all be it moderatly, 4 pregnancies, many lost hours of sleep whilst breastfeeding/comforting/nursing sick kids/bedwetting/night terrors etc. Not to mention the worry, and a bad skincare routine. They only saving grace is i never smoked.
But that all changes NOW
Earlier on i put on a vitamin e capsule on my face and even though it was greasy it sunk into my face, leading me to beleive that actually my skin is dehydrated.
Marrowgirl, yes i have changed my diet (to loose weight at first) but i am spurred on by you saying your skin has improved.
Lee it's nice to see a man who takes care about how he looks, easy on the eye;) DH sort of takes care of himself, he uses moistuiriser on his face, but he is blessed with good genes (which i am not) and even though he's 37 he looks 27, adding to my:eek: insecurities.
Off to drink another Pint (of water, obviously)

Water water water. Cut down on teas and coffees, they dehydrate your skin. Switch to green tea if possible. And use good products. What works for my skin is Murad, my second choice would be Dermalogica. Although I like the idea of sodium bicarbonate as scrub.0

On you tube i watched a tutorial from an american women and her skincare routine, she cleansed with olive oil (ocm??) and took it off with a flannell, toned with witch hazel, and moisrurised with petroleum jelly!! I may give the vaseline a miss but i'm going to give the other bits a go, does anyone know how long it is for a new skincare regime to take effect?? I will carry on moisturising with the Aldi cream but have realised it has no spf, my foundation does tho!!
Have cut down on tea today only on 3rd cup (usually on about 6) and have had 2 pints of water already. For lunch i had sardines on toast (omega oils) followed by lots of fruit, i do hope i am going to see the effects of this!!
Thanks for all your replies, does anyone use a fairly cheap anti aging moisturiser with a spf???

Sharon I would imagine it would take about 4 weeks, I am sure I read somewhere that our skin renews itself every 28 days.
Boots Time Delay has an SPF in it and costs about £9.50.
My nails technician swears by witch hazel for oily/combination skin and rose water for normal/dry skin, both relatively cheap to buy.
You'll be a new woman in a month's time, congratulations on the weight loss.0 -
Thank you debbie, i have enough points on my advantage card to buy that with no cash outlay! mmm 28 days.. well so be it! Yes a new (younger) woman i want to be, the weight loss is going well but i do have a mountain to climb, i think the weight actually ages me aswell:(
Missing my wine tonight!! ah well no pain no gain

dermalogica helps my skin, and the pre cleanse is ace for my congested t zone. I also go for regular facials and am fanatical about SPF on my face0

Good going Sharron! I cleanse with almond oil (£1.69 from sainsbury's lasts for ages) wiped off with damp cotton pads or a flannel. I've found it helps balance the skin....a lot of cheap cleansers strip the skin, causing more oil to be produced to compensate or that tight feeling. DD has been doing it for a while too and the pores on her nose are much cleaner since she started.
Also what about gently steaming your face over a bowl of warm water. (Not boiling though cos I think that can cause broken capilliaries??Eek!) Ideas here for in corporating it into your routine. I think it softens the skin and opens the pores making the skin more receptive to the creams/trearments

Hi Sharron,
I always swear by Babyface cleanser by Lush at nights, wiped off with a flannel - and Angels on Bare Skin twice a week in the shower, because it is so messy. I use starflower oil for general moisturizing, and pawpaw ointment for problem areas.
Drinking plenty of water helps and so does using a decent SPF. My skin has also become far less congested since switching to mineral makeup (pure minerals, not one of the big brand imitations.)

Sharron, I will be 31 this November.
I've started paying much more attention to my skin over the past year or so!
