  • thank you peeps, i can see i'm not the only one who has issues with photos :)

Missm, i loved liz earle products and swear that it helped clear my acne a couple of years ago, i juat feel it's time to step up a gear, i also don't think Liz earl is particulary purse friendly :(

Lola, not too keen on clinique either :( but it has been years since i haved used it so i may pop to the clinique counter in boots today and ask for some samples.

Bronnie, no i have never smoked thinks that's why i feel very hard done by, i'm not a sun lover either. Since yesterday i'm trying to drink more water too, so i'll let you know if i notice any improvement!!

Got some vitamin e tablets, give them a try later!!

I'm 32, and had also noticed a change in my skin over the past few years. I used to cleanse and tone with the chaep stuff and used olay to moisturise. Now I have 2 different types of cleanser/toner systems, one for when my skin is "normal" and one for around the time of the month when my skin gets a little oily. Cleanse, tone and moisturise with day cream in the morning (has the benefit of spf) and same at night with a night cream.

I also use eye cream/serum in the evening. Most of the products I use are from L'Occitane. They are a little pricey, but I see it as an investment in my skin. Some things I'm happy to save on (lippies, bubble bath, nail varnish) other things, I spend on (skincare, foundation, conditioner).

Facial scrubs are excellent, but limit them to once a week, twice at a push.

Sharon the serum is like a booster/extra moisturiser I use under my moisturiser, it is pre-blended by an aromatherapist and I buy it from Ebay, about £5.00 per bottle I used to pay £40.00 for my Decleor oils.

debidoodle, is it possible you could provide a link (or details) of the ebay seller please?

I'm a great fan of serums (like the Olay and Boots P & P ones), but the £5.00 price sounds rather appealing:D

I use glycerine on face face at night. I dab it over my eye area and onto my cheeks. If I have a few zits, I add in some lavender oil. Wake up with plumped up skin!

You can also make a vitamin C serum using vitamin C powder, glycerine and distilled water/rose water:

    Hi Debidoodle,
This sounds great!!, could you pls post a link for your e-bay buy, or can you pm pls ;), been desperately looking for some serum, but the ones out there cost a fortune or irritate my skin :(

For op, i have been using the boots botanical range for the day & at night pure rose-hip oil mixed with vit a cream from holland & barret, my skin plumps up lovely. Recently on this thread i read about using soda barcarb as face scrub then vaseline as night cream, it was marvellous!!, but don't do this too much maybe 2/3 times a week. HTH :)
No one said it was gonna be easy!

Griizelda & Shays_mum they have a website with free delivery https://www.belenostherapy.co.uk and the facial oil is the following

Intensive Facial Oil with Jasmine,Lavender & Rose £6.00, it is cheaper than Ebay which cost's £6.90. I have just had a look and there appears to have been a price increase, still much cheaper than the high end serums.

Sharon, I read that sea salt can be used as a body scrub - maybe fine sea salt could be used as a facial scrub?

I've got similar issues about photos.....I'm about to get married and will have to invest in a new passport & have a new driving licence, so thought I'd change my photo while I was at it...am not looking forward to it!

I have used salt as a facial scrub. It was quite effective but I did worry that it would be quite drying so I always did the OCM afterwards.

I have a confession - I am 35 and my skincare routine consists of scrubbing my face with a flannel and water in the morning and putting on some Boots cucumber cheapie moisturiser :o I don't use toner or even cleanser. I really ought to make more of an effort to go back to OCM once or twice a week.
My biggest problem lately has been small spots - damn you mirena coil and your hormones :(

    Hi Sharron,

I'm 35 and I know how you feel. A few months ago I felt i was unrecognisable as the person in my wedding photos. Since then my routine has changed completely.

Day - I use a light moisuriser, I actually make my own now (very MSE!)
Make up - Lily lolo mineral make up. Asda under eye concealer (looks like a silver version of touche eclat)
Night - OCM. olive/caster oil removed with a flannel.
Once a week I either use Lush "Angels on Bare Skin" or a mud mask (HM - just clay powder, water and a little manuka honey)

I've also noticed a major improvement since I changed my diet. Bit extreem but lots of veg & water and less processed food. I'm no supermodel by any stretch of the imagination but my skin is plumper and clearer.

Admission: I'm a guy, but it doesn't mean I don't want to still look my best :)

You are what you eat, first and foremost! "5 a day" has been said to be insufficient in some circles and the actual recommendation is 7 a day (I'll find a source for this one day).
Keep hydrated! Water infused with cucumber and lemon is a good method. Green tea if you can't stomach that thought.
Reduce your caffeine intake. Caffeine dehydrates your skin and your body.
Cut down on refined carbs, these spike your blood sugar.

Loads more advice out there :)
