Hi everybody.
Over the last few weeks we have had a number of "troll" attacks on the boards.
What is a Troll? A troll is a person that posts deliberately provocative, nasty or hurtful comments on threads. They may be a person with no previous connection to the board or someone that has created a pseudonym to get their point made.
If you should get a comment made on any thread you post asking for help and advice please realise this comment is not directed at you personally.
We really are all a lovely bunch here (oops, modest, sorry) so please ignore these nasty comments and continue to post here as normal.
what should i do if i get a comment made on my thread?
firstly do not respond to the comment as this invariably is what the person wants. At the bottom of the post, on the left hand side is a red "warning" triangle. Click this and then "send" the message that comes up. This will report the message to abuse who will review it's content and delete it.
The person we had this morning was particularly vile and nasty and please believe me is an extreme rarity here.
Above all PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE BOARDS. THIS SITE IS AN ASSET TO SO MANY, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS THE WORLD IS FALLING IN ON YOU. THERE IS SUCH A WEALTH OF ADVICE HERE TO BE HAD THAT THE COMMENTS OF ONE MUST NOT DETER YOU FROM AVAILING YOURSELF OF THE KNOWLEDGE HERE!!!!
It is testament to the work that martin has done and continues to do that so many people give their time knowledge and experience freely to others, without judgement, to lift people out of the depths of debt crisis
PLEASE DO NOT LET THE ACTIONS OF THE MINORITY RUIN THAT.
Kind wishes
P
Hi All
Please read the post above. This thread is to get across the message that if you are unlucky enough to encounter a nasty response then this is not typical and most people on here want to help, advise and support each other.
So to newcomers please stick around and wait for the good advice you are sure to get, and for the old timers as Handy reminded us yesterday lets just remember how vulnerable and desperate some people are when they first post and act with some care in our responses.
We try to keep this thread on the first page all the time and to ensure that the message above is at the top of each new page. The random posts and chatter in between are just to keep this thread visible to all. Feel free to join in but remember the most important part is to report the trolls (and spammers) and give good advice to newcomers on the DFW forum (and elsewhere as well!).
Great words from both Pania and Tixy which can't be repeated often enough:DThe time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time

Hi Spoon how was the ballon ride.
I was walking on Stanadge edge in the Peaks, when I met a fellow strapped into a hang glider waiting for the wind to change for take off.
I asked him if he knew about the hang glider accident a few weeks before?
No he said concerned, what happened?
I told him two paddy poachers had been on the moor all day and not shot a thing. Them over the ridge came a hang glider. What is it said Mick? I tink it a prehisterical monster, one of those Ptectodaclyls said murphy? Can we shoot it said Mick? then they both fired, both barrels. Did we get it said Murphey. No said Mick but it sure dropped the fellow it was carrying.
The chap trying to take of was red in the face his shoulders shaking. When he composed himself I was told to go away in a sexual manner in short jerky movements.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

The balloon ride went well, thanks, Handy, although I do have a hapoon sticking out of my leg and some very fetching cross stitching in various colours all down my leg:rotfl:
