Gazco studio 1 gas fireplace

We are thinking of getting Gazco Studio 1 Edge Glass Fronted Balanced Flue for our living room.
The local company's quoted £2050 for the initial survey, fireplace, limestone surround and fitting (they are registered gas safe engineer). I've been looking for price on the web but they are difficult to come by, and no price on balanced flue version (I can find glass fronted ones).
Is this price reasonable? Help!

I had a similar fire to that fitted for about £1300 a couple of years ago, so it depends where you are as to if its a good price. Remember these fires are a feature, and are not really for generating heat. They will also burn a load of gas.0

Thanks for the info! I'm told the one I'm after gives out enough heat to warm our living room, but as you rihtly said many are for decoration rather then heat. We are etting the glass fronted one which is meant to give better efficiency then open fronted one (and prob child friendlier too!!)0

The glass fronted ones are the balanced flue, aren't they? I thought the studio was either open fronted or glass fronted which is balanced flue.
I don't know about the limestone surround but we'll be buying the Studio 3 edge open fronted (which I think is cheaper than the bf) soon and we'd been quoted just under £2000 for it. I'd expect to pay £300 for fitting as that's what we normally payCan't see why it would be mush different this time.

Yeah, the one I'm looking for is BF option. I think the studio edge 1 or 2 comes in open front, BF or ordinary chimney. Gazco's web site states open front has 25% efficiency, normal chimney 70% and BF 81% - which is why we opted for BF, though personally open front looks far better!
The local company's fitting was £250+vat, so pretty much same as yours. I've seen the price of gazco's surround and I think they were around £200ish for studio 1 (though I only managed a glance). Our local is selling studio 1 edge for £1750 inc "free surround", although I've seen the actual price for the normal chimney studio 1 edge can be bought cheaper without this "free surround"! Unfortunately, I cant find the BF price....0 -
p.s. Just had the Fire place guy out today. Unfortunately he cant fit the studio (chimney breast too narrow!).
Now got a choice of smaller one or tall unit (the one we originally wanted) studio 22 for nearly £3k0 -
Just an update;
We ended up settling for £2650 for studio 22 edge with sorrento surround (its the one on middle right with limestone surround) inc fitting. Not sure if its the best price but certainly seems reasonable compared to other quotes and they are local. Hope its worth the price tag!0 -
We have just purchased a Studio Steel 3 BF fire from a company in Elsemere Port.
I spent over an hour ringing around and the price ranged from £3,200 (our local supplier) to £2,200.
So, we drove for around 3 hours up north last Friday to Elsemere to save the £1,000.

Another thing to note with Gazco fires, is they will not cover fires purhcased over the internet. You have to purhcase them in a showroom. Some of the stores told me this and I rang Gazco to confirm it was true.
Your price for a Studio 22 does sound high. We looked at this one too as we were going to buy 2 and put the TV in the middle, but were short a couple of inches on the wall.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -

The Gazco RRP for your fire is:-
Fire £1,895
Surround £595
BF kit £45
Total £2535
(I managed to nick a price list in one of the showrooms)
Most fire compaies I rang were giving around 20% discount on the list price for Gazco fires.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -

Studio 3 Open Fronted RRP List Price
Fire £1,595
Surround N/A (no surround with an Edge)
BF N/A (cannot of BF with an open front fire)
Liner £149
I think you are being quoted over the list price to be honest. You might want to ring around a bit. The open front fire is much cheaper than the glass fronted fire and £2k sounds far too much.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100 -
Thanks alot guys! Thats really helpful
My £2650 does sound a little expensive if the RRP should be £2535, esp if companies are giving 20% discount (That would work out to be £2028). Although mine includes a fitting, it should be around £300 for fitting from what I've seen.
Do you know if that RRP includes VAT though? If it doesn't, then mine would become reasonable....0
