    Absolutely.

Graham, I think you're confusing yourself and trying to establish a view where one doesn't exist.

To flippantly say that it's 'possibly our worst investment ever' when by the admission of her very own publications she's about flush £500,000 down the toilet, completely trashes the entire credibility of what she said in the past.

    That's all.

That’s an equation that can only have one result."

    What 'one result' is that?

Recent historical evidence would indicate a reduction in people selling their homes, removing properties previously listed thus reducing supply.

Again, taking that recent historical evidence, what was the conclusion to the housing market

But I still can't get past what she says at the end, about it being possibly their worst investment ever.

She's still saying she believes prices will fall. Things change when you have a new born. If you need a home for this new born, which, it seems they did, soemtimes you have to buy a home, if you are able to to so. Human nature to do the best you can for your offspring.

Ultimately Graham, she has chosen as likely millions of other people (indeed probably most people) to get on with their lives.

It's because most people get on with their lives that the likelyhood of MSW going 1/2 million in negative equity (would that equate to prices lowering by more than 50%) would seem unrealistic.

Yet you wish to still believe her.

    Good Luck

Yes Graham, it's a bit like asking a question and then ignoring the answer so you can ask it again a few days later and explain that it's a question no-one ever answers :rotfl:

    ?

Why? don't they rent to families?

She, more than most of her readers, had real reason to see it out a bit longer. When you're buying in the £800K to £1m range you've got a lot of extra motivation to wait for some significant level of price correction. Even if that waiting is done in a less grand rental property.

I thought she was a full-on London girl. According to that article, whilst she was heavily preggers in London, husband went to Edinburgh and sourced a rented place. They later stayed in that rented Edinburgh place for 18 months. Is her only connection to Edinburgh her husband?

How many children does she have? I think she has 2 young ones.

MSW herself must have had her heart set on owning a full-on Georgian house with 5 big bedrooms. It's a bit irritating how she justifies buying it, because if one of her kids wants to paint a wall pink, she must be allowed to.

If she still thinks values are set to suffer major correction, and if she had to buy, couldn't she buy a less expensive non-Georgian house in Stockbridge - say a 3 bed - and if she was so sure of the crash... when it comes and plays out, later sell and trade up to the 5 bed house in Stockbridge. Instead it seems they've pushed themselves for this house in an area which is less than her ideal choice.
The demand for a house has nothing to do with how many people would like to live in it and everything to do with how many people can get their hands on the credit to do so. Right now credit is severely restricted and the supply of houses for sale is rising fast. That’s an equation that can only have one result. On the plus side, if we ever need to sell our house, we do at least know a man who should be able to find us a buyer.
This irritates me MSW. Matthew is not a miracle worker. He will only be able to find you a buyer in the future if you're willing to accept a price which is in line with market reality, especially if/when market conditions worsen up there. It's unlikely he'd be able to sell your house for £1m when equivalent houses in Stockbridge are asking £1m or less.
