Moneyweek's MS-W on why she decided to buy

Ultimately if someone was letting their housing decisions be ruled by someone writing for MoneyWeek then they are past help anyhow.
That about covers most of the contributors on HPC then.0 -
v. good post but to be fair to her, with lenders refusing to give credit - demand and supply was nearly secondary. unfortunately she was economical with the truth and those that didn't understand that have believed her and been burned...This woman is a joke. She's been blasting the housing market for years and goes and does the opposite of what of what she's been preaching. That said, anyone who states "the rules of supply and demand do not operate in the housing market" (The One Show, 2008) clearly does not know what she's talking about. I also think it's a lesson in using your own judgment instead of being influenced by what the media/ internet, believe to be correct for there own ultimate gain.0 -

Very probably.
Didn't realise you were so bothered about them....
Oh hang on you're not. You just want to mock someone who got it wrong. It'll make you feel better and allow you to rub a few more bears noses in it..... (and it's only a few of the bears who really deserve that)
Then you'll be amazed as to why they are all crowing and lambasting you with each monthly percentage drop on each index.0 -
Blacklight wrote: »The problem is Graham, she spent the last few years very publicly predicting a crash of epic proportions and a lot of people have been taken in by her poor advice. Where does this leave those people now she's suddenly changed her mind?
There's no way even you can believe that she's bought now because of some nonsence about a family home.
We're not talking about losing a couple of grand here Graham. If things pan out as she has predicted in the past then she's highly likely to be half a million pounds in negative equity by her own calculations.
It's total hypocrisy and she doesn't even have the bottle to admit she was completely wrong.
Hmmm, I realise this is very serious business and all that.
But I still can't get past what she says at the end, about it being possibly their worst investment ever.
She's still saying she believes prices will fall. Things change when you have a new born. If you need a home for this new born, which, it seems they did, soemtimes you have to buy a home, if you are able to to so. Human nature to do the best you can for your offspring.
Just my take on it I guess. As I say, I realise how serious this all is, and that hundreds of people will now lose money as they read her column and suddenly she's abandoned them all by buying. Poor sods.
If hypocrites seem to be the in thing at the moment, which, I believe they are, then I'm sure we can find loads on the opposite spectrum. Those who ramp prices up at every opportunity, telling others to buy, make their money themselves out of investing, but hold back from investing at the moment while telling others to go for it.
I realise this probably won't be as cool though. So I'm wondering....DO you have a problem. ARE you angry? Or are you just bathing in the glory you think you have found?0 -
those that didn't understand that have believed her and been burned...
How could those who believed her have been burned? Its too early to see if you are right.
If you are right and house price go up even more from here then yes what you said could be true.
If she is right and house prices go down then those who didnt listen to her will get burned.
Myself I agree with most of what she says and think houses will go down from here, sorry to disagree with you chucky.0 -

do you know where i can buy some gold or silver?
Yes this a good thread about it with some good places to buy bullion

But werent you the same as Hamish and you were one of 'the gold was going to crash' and house prices will keep going up from here crowd?
If you can keep the school boy comments to yourself I am interested in what you have to say about why silver is not a good investment.0 -
just because i don't think houses will fall 50% it doesn't mean i think houses will always go up... there is a bit of a subtle difference, i hope you realise that...Llubrevlis wrote: »Yes this a good thread about it with some good places to buy bullion
