do you shoplift as well?
No, but I recycle all the time - and consider the documents MINE once they've been shoved through my letterbox with my name and address on them.
I see your thread says "ex-postie" - hope you weren't sacked for failing to FRANK OVER THE STAMPS!Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
although you ask sevenonine this question, i'll answer for me, no i don't shop lift, where is the relevance?
Because stamps are there to pay for a service. The service of mailing a letter or parcel. Reusing already used stamps means that the post office are delivering the second letter for free.
This means that they make less money, pay less to their workers which means they will risk losing the good ones to other jobs, and have to raise prices more to keep the services running without a loss.
If thats what people want to do I'm not going to stop them but it will make an impact on the postal service.0 -

well having been in a 'trial office' for RM implementing all the new systems and delivery methods RM are proposing
prepare yourself
if you think the service is bad now well people are in for a rude awakening
as are many RM staff who will be losing theri jobs0 -

Lovely. I wasn't saying I do currently think their service is bad now (or great either), just that it will get worse if they are making less money due to people reusing stamps.
I shudder to think how the service will be once the trial office systems are rolled out over the country though. I did expect some sort of cut and changes soon, they do constantly seem to be needing more funds to make ends meet.0 -

I agree on the money front
as i have said before.RM should take a far harder line on people defrauding the service with reused, underpaid items and the likes of unofficial redirections
however the irony is RM are losing plenty of money themselves
my old office is a large office serving a lot of large companies
places likes bank clearing offices
these get a lot of mail, loads of Special delivery mail and often pay for early delivery
one even pays for its own RM van custom fitted with a safe!
they moved the office so it was under 1 mile from these customers and yet now they get a worse service than they did a few years ago!
one has even gone so far as to employ a courier to collect their mail from the office than rely on RM to deliver it on time.
their office is approximately 0.3 miles from the RM office0
