How to spot fake 2nd class stamps ?

I 're-use' stamps that haven't been franked whenever I get any. Soak them off in a saucer of water, no sticky residue left. The PO have introduced some funny oval cut out bits which are supposed to make it harder to do this..........I've got news for them - doesn't make the slightest bit of difference, I still manage to get them off undamaged. (Though why I faff about for a measly few pence is beyond me.)
The difference being I re-use them using pritt stick not sellotape! I'm amazed these made it through the sorting office with sellotape on them. Look on the bright side Deanos, you can re-use the one on the right yourself.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
Interesting thread - I think the reason stamps are not faked more is not due to the low value but due to the tracibility of the items. For the average person its simply not worth it (although a few will soak and reuse those without postmarks) but for a business the cost of sticking every stamp on every envelope compared to using a legitimate address and franking printer is pretty similar.
Also as stamps have a literal value in the same way money does anyone offering stamps for significantly less than face value would be regarded very suspiciously in the same way someone offering you a £20 note for a fiver would be.
Thats why the security on stamps is a little flap that doesnt work and £20 notes have holograms, complex pictures of blokes with beards and watermarks.0 -
Have a look through your Ebay sellers feedback and see if they have recently bought a bottle of Stamp Removal Fluid from Ebay0
