So why is it restricted to the first registered owner?

Surely it make no difference how many owners a car has, as long as they all comply with the warranty conditions, it certainly isn't as straightforward as the Kia/Hyundai warranties.

Not sure, probably to limit the claims under waranty, actually I am sure sure that's the reason. But for someone who is considering a new car in retirement it does "seem" attractive. Totally against my principle of never buying a brand spanking car however ;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

To be fair they arent restricting it to first owner - they say it will be transferable but havent worked out details.

Possibly a sliding cost scale depending on milage or the most they reckon they can possibly get away with.

Bearing in mind all repairs will be priced at cost price for parts and labour at warranty rate (£28 an hour rather than £110 an hour retail rate) this could well make break even or maybe even become a profit opportunity if you can set the transfer price at £200.

Its very good business and only reason they havent introduced it earlier was poor reliability, and its a disincentive to buying a new car every 3 years.

Ford will almost certainly launch a similar scheme next year and claim to be the first to do so and be innovators and market leaders.

Good on you Vauxhall - Anyone slagging off the product needs to get in an Insignia. We did a comparison drive when it launched and it was nicer than the Beemer, the VW, the Audi, Peugot, Renault. Only two that came close to it were the Mondeo and the Skoda Superb.

Spent a whole day in and out of cars and only when you have 8 or 9 and you spend an hour in each will you really appreciate the differences.

Think it also won car of the year so wasnt just me that saw it as a big step in the right direction.

It is still an additional cost factor that is exclusive to Vauxhall, so the warranty does not compare equally with other makers.

Many Vauxhall drivers drive Vauxhalls because they have little choice, ie. fleet cars.
    ;)
  • With new cars being so much cheaper through online discounters in many cases, where they claim you are buying from a registered dealer, then this would have to be considered. Does anyone have an opinion on this ?
  • Hi

We bought an 18 month old Vectra (petrol) from a VX dealer 2 weeks ago (trading in old model Vectra owned for 9 years).

It has only done 2800 miles (validated) and is in pristine condition but on the test drive, I pointed out aircon not working. They regassed but within a week, this had packed up again.

Dealer then found that the condenser was leaking - part on back order and could take up to a month (great - summer will be over by then?).

Then a week later, the power steering suddenly packed up (light on dash). Had to get it receoverd to dealer who said it would need new pump. You guessed it - part on back order (could be over a week!!!).

At least VX have provided a hire car, as unable to use the car and all these repairs are covered but it does not bode well?

The old Veccy had many niggles during the 3 year warrany period but after that, only ever needed service or wear and tear work.

    Regards

Most discounters provide new cars via a main dealer, so that shouldn't be a problem.

But I suspect many more buy them because they are mid market, mid priced and offer more than mid quality???

I have had 6 or 7 from the early 80's untill recent, chose and paid for them all myself. No !!!!!!s, !!!!!!!s or any other disparitary descripts. ALL GOOD RELIABLE CARS.

Problem or / solution is the more reliable the car gets, the less value an extended waranty. Maybe we are reaching this point right now??
