Vauxhall introduces 'life-time' warranty

Good news for anyone planning on buying a new Vauxhall.

Any new car from them will come with a life-time warranty, that expires after 100,000 miles.

Kia's got a lot of press for their 7 year, 100,000 mile warranty. On the face of it, Vauxhall's even better.

I cannot even imagine a Vauxhall lasting 100,000 miles without fault.

But it's not a "lifetime" warranty is it! It's a 100,000 mile warranty, presumably just without a time limit attached. Very good idea tho!

Plus a yearly visit to a Vauxhall dealer is required.

No time limit, but it's essentially the same as Kia's but unlimited.

Haven't had a chance to read the small print though, might not cover many things.

2nd owner can purchase the warranty, why not transferable for free? like other long warranties.

As a motorist that maybe is getting ready to buy his last ever car a 100k waranty does have attractions. Is that 100k or 10 years or what? .

My 52 plate Astra is now on 101,000 miles and has never given me or a previous owner any trouble (not only did it have FSH but the previous two owners had kept every receipt and piece of paperwork relating to it, unless they had major faults and threw those ones out!).

First expensive service this year, for replacement brake pads and drums, but that's normal wear and tear.

Of course (1) we're not the first owner so wouldn't have the warranty and (2) the warranty on our car would have lasted 8 years, not a life-time...

Much as I love Vauxhall, their new cars are bleddy expensive so I think my next one will be a 1-2 year old Astra that's lost the worst of its depreciation. Just can't see myself paying full whack for a brand new one.

I think it is an excellent move, shows real commitment to the quality of the vehicles and puts Vauxhall top of the tree (i think) for warranty.

I was surprised all vehicles are included though from the off, Kia I think started off with 1 or 2 new models on their scheme and the extended it. The Agila for instance is a Suzuki Splash as well, small cars usually don't have the lastability of larger models.

VW group can't match that. Skoda has 2 years unlimited then the 3rd year is limited to 60,000 miles.

Ford are trailing, so called reliable Japanese Honda are no where, Toyota could only just muster upto 5 years to try and claw back a little reputation.

Even Audi, Volvo, BMW can't match it.

Good work, hope it gets more sales and keeps the UK factory going.

Yes, about 5000 miles in my case (power steering intermittent failure)! Then try and get the damn thing fixed under warranty because "there's nothing wrong with the steering." Computer says no! Eventually a complete new steering column at 6000 miles.
Of course to compound things, a new steering rack at 15000 miles, again after having to push to get it sorted.
So Vauxhall, no thanks, so called "lifetime warranty" or not.

How is 100,000 miles a lifetime warranty? We haven't a single car in our household thats under 100,000 miles. My 5 year old Mondeo is on 140,000...
