O2 Broadband Retention Offers

My broadband 12m minimum contract expires tomorrow and I wondered what sort of retention deals people have been able to negotiate?
The 3 months free offered to new accounts would be good (saving £22.50pa), but has anyone managed a reduction in the monthly fee in return for another 12m (say £2.50 a month, saving £30pa?)

To answer my own question, they offered me (without any pushing whatsoever) a £2.50 discount on the broadband in return for a further 12m contract, making my monthly sub £5.00 with the mobile discount. More than happy with that, as I wasn't intending to leave anyway.
I wonder how low they would go if you did lean on them?No free lunch, and no free laptop

i got an email from them saying it was up for renewal and offering 25% off if i signed for another 12 months0

Does that mean your now on their new poorer quality tariff with traffic shaping?0

I have just phoned them asking if they can offer me a retention deal. They did, dropped it back down to a fiver and still unlimited uploads/downloads for another 12 months. If I were a new customer they don't let you have unlimited.
Superb. Well happy with o2 :T:T:T0 -
my contract is up for renewal soon. they retained me last year. 1st year i paid £12.50/month. 2nd year i paid £7.50/month without being mobile phone customer. as an existing customer, at renewal, will i be switched too limited download?0

For info.
I was well outside 12 months (had forgotten to call)
Initially I was offered £2.50 off per month extra.
I had to phone back later and a different lady saw the details and
offered me 3 months free instead - which obviously worked out
cheaper over the 12 months.0 -
Hi All
Whilst I was renewing for £5 a month for 12 months at O2, I was also offered line rental AND Broadband for £12.25 per month !
Had already just signed up for BT line rental so I couldn't take it.
Only thing was that I would have had to go onto the new basic line rental with 20gb month cap.
Seemed like a good offer to me - Line rental with free broadband !0 -
I've just renewed my contract with o2. It was expiring soon. I currently pay £7.50 without being an o2 mobile customer. I've kept to the same price even though I probably could pushed a little further. 0800 230 0202 and just select the options for leaving. Say you want your MAC code and why you are leaving and they'll offer you something. I do look back and wondered if I mentioned a competitive offer elsewhere. (E.g. - Orange broadband £10/month - plus £100ish cashback from topcashback website) and maybe I would have been paying £5 a month on o2. I'm just crap at negotiation.0

With O2 broadband, from what ive heard you dont even need to mention your leaving to get the retention deal!0

o2 have always been good for that, they gave me 3 months free when my contract expired last year and for £7.50 a month I can't complain especially as I was with BT before that and they were charge 3 times that for slower Broadband!
Unfortunately it looks like I'm going to have to leave o2 because my internet speed is only about 2 meg and from the 31st of December I can get fibre optic with BT so looks like I'll be going back to them. I might check if o2 will be doing a fibre optic deal soon as that could get me to stay with them.0
