Given that every other petrol station will operate in exactly the same way seems a bit pointless

10 litres isn't precice as has already been pointed out. The pump only shows. x.xx litres, not x.xxxx litres. If you want accuracy then go by the price shown on the pump, not by the litres shown. When it shows £11.99 then you know you have as close to 10 litres as you're going to get.

Paying 119.9 per litre is the ripoff, it's 115 in Watford!

I was filling up today at Tesco, diesel was being sold for 119.9p per litre, or so I thought. Put exactly 10 litres in, exactly! And was charged £12. This is the second time this has happened, I know it is only pennies, but if it was multiplied by 5 as I would normally do, then multiplied by the hundreds of customers per day in this one garage alone, a massive multinational corporation is raking it in by over charging for an already extortionate product. I questioned the teller who was no older than my daughter, who then looked like I had asked him the reasons for world poverty and the current global down turn, I laughed it off and he looked relieved. I have a receipt from today and will endeavour to do the same in future. Try it, fill up to a nice round number and see if you have the same results, thieves.......Who can I complain to?????

    Perhaps get a life?

Stop concerning yourself with such minor trivialities that even people on a moneysaving website shake their heads in shame at you.

Perhaps get out of your bedroom and meet some people? Go for a walk in the park?

Why would you put in exactly 10 L and not exactly £12?

Does the OP collect pennies or something?

As said by many before, you put in more than 10L, petrol station pumps are set up to err in your favour.

I'm so angered because i feel i have been overcharged by 1p that i am going to write a strongly worded post of a forum.

    (a) you werent overcharged
    (b) you should consider stress management classes
    (c) get a life.

I'll avoid their fuel stations altogether now because I was left looking like complete twonk when their stupid "pay at kiosk" button refused to work at Tesco in Stafford about 5 years ago.... After about 5 minutes trying to get some petrol I "calmly" placed the nozzle back to the pump, "calmly" got into my car, "calmly" exited the forecourt and "calmly" went elsewhere, never to return!!
