A couple of weeks ago, I refunded a buyer £1.50 for overcharge on postage, and noticed that she haid paid me twice (£9 transaction), so refunded that too and never heard anything from her.0 -

I hadn't ripped her off, sometimes you get postal rates wrong, and when I do, I refund. She had paid twice by mistake !
As Fridayschild says, it would have been nice for her to at least acknowledge it.You're only young once, but you can be immature forever

Some buyers may not check their Paypal accounts regularly and realise they have a refund waiting for them. Otherwise, I agree with Cyberbob.
And coins are more use to people who don't regularly post things out. Stamps are only really useful as exchange to collectors or to people who sell themselves."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

When I did this I sent the buyer £1 through PayPal, with a message explaining that I had overcharged. I agree with others that it's only a pound but my buyer came back and said thank you. I think I sent it as a gift (if I remember correctly that prevents the PayPal fee they'd get withdrawing the money into their bank account- although if the buyer only had that £1 in their balance, they'd have to spend it anyway as you can't withdraw less than £6).
I think the thing to remember is that the buyer agrees to pay the amount of postage quoted, so presumably they thought it was a fair price- but it is still a nice thing to do.0 -

I actually wrote to the buyer and said they had paid twice, and I had refunded one payment.
I suppose it is too much to ask for the common courtesy of a reply. I didn't want thanks, just an acknowldgement. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever
