I'm horrified at myself

I really need some advice here. I have just had someone win an item for 99p from me which is great. All sales are welcome but I said the postage would be 2.50. When I went to package the item it is a large letter and not a package and I have overcharged her by £1. Since this is only the 5th sale I have made I really would like to know what to do.
Should I send her £1 back by paypal and will it in fact allow me to do this as I have already completed it all
I feel like a cheat somehow even though it was unintentional

Send a £1 coin in the package with a note of apology if you feel so bad?0

It's only £1! It's not like you overcharged her £40 like the poor person in another thread. I wouldn't do anything. You have to take packaging into account, too.0

or you can refund £1 of the original payment.0

You can refund through paypal if you like but she would have looked at total cost before bidding.0

Dont worry about it, if you feel bad, then refund £1 through paypal and write a message explaining that you over estimated the postage costs and have refunded the difference. I have done it myself, and yes I feel bad too, but do all I can to put it right.0

lol you guys are the best. How to get things in perspective in one easy lesson - post on MSE.
DH has just been yapping at me that I had to buy all the bags I use and printer paper and ink yadda yadda and that he drives to the PO and that in the scheme of things £1 is nothing :rotfl:0 -
Check out other peoples prices - a lot of people use postage costs as a way of taking prices beyond 99p without getting charged, so I wouldn't worry about it as it wasn't a surprise to her, was it?0

I would agree, £1 isn't alot when you take into consideration bags and packaging etc if it was more than that I would defiinately refund.
I wouldn't worry too much0 -
I refund if I've over estimated the postage, seems fair to me.Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

Then expect to be slammed on your DSRs. If you charge that much over on a low value item the buyer will assume you have done that on purpose to make up for the low listing price.Considering the overcharge on the postage is the same price youpaid for the item. There is a good chance that they would slam you on your DSRs (I would). Personally I would just refund the difference via paypal. Then you will at least have a happy customer. 20 or 30 p Packaging cost on a 99p item in my looks is reasonable £1 looks like your trying to profit on your P&P. Personally I only ever charge cost price (sometimes even under cost) any packaging costs get covered within my start price.
Why risk a 1 or 2 on your DSRs that could really effect your account. You just need to look at the ebay community boards to see what a hot topic postage costs are to buyers.0
