Has anyone had experience of Ilva? - Danish IKEA

I just bought a sofa and armchair. Very smooth transaction. However when the armchair arrived there were 2 marks on it, I think it had been stored upside down. It was pointed out to the delivery guy who wasn't interested, but after calling the store they have organised an exchange without asking any questions. I feel they have handled this very well. Although delivery is expensive there is no extra charge for Saturday or Sunday which means we have not had to take time off work.
The real test will be in a couple of years, will the sofa end up sagging like ikea ones always do! (it does look like better quality than an ikea sofa though).0 -
No, it won't

My husband is a Dane so we know many people who have had Ilva furniture for years! Danes really pride themselves of their sense of quality and design. Ilva is considered a store for those who have graduated from Ikea "flat packed" furniture (of which so many are made of particle board).
Many of the Danes I talked to are actually annoyed that so many people think that Scandinavian furniture is disposable, thanks to Ikea. I mean, having 4 kids, we do like Ikea for many things and their prices can't be beat. However, we do know that a lot of the things there just won't last more than 2 - 3 years.0 -
Havfrue2006 do you work for Ilva by any chance? All your 4 MSE posts to date have been about the fantastic MSE opportunities there, and to me seem rather like spam.0

No, please read here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=342019&highlight=ILVA
I am feeling like a total moron for having posted similar posts now - specially under a brand new username
I belong to many message boards and now I realized I would have felt EXACTLY the same way as you if I saw posts like mine. As I said on the other thread: I came home all excited about a store we have been so proud of having in Denmark, and wanted to share the god deal.
I have a loooong online history under another username - I should have just created an account with it for reference
I am a mother of 4, new to the UK who joined MSE some months ago under the name HAVFRUE to learn more about smart ways to collect TESCO points (which I have been doing religiously BTW!
)
I truly thought it was a shame that nobody I talked to had heard about ILVA when I have known it for so many years and when I have just today spent under 400 on a huge couch (and we could not find anything similar in IKEA 2 weeks ago). I just wanted to help, but you have all the right in the world to be suspiscious
I guess I will go and hide now - I feel so stupid!

After a lot of diggin, I was finally able to log on under my original username! It was in the stupid hotmail junk folder

I have most of this post note from you all but can not believe it, i also got the brochure from ILVA through the door, and decided to try them, furniture is great and ordered some (4) beds (£1700) from them (Thurrock store) this was in January, at first it was sorry no slats in stock and could not agree a delivery date, and when slats did arrive in stock the ordered beds had been sold and had to wait for new ones to come in. eventually got 2 beds at the end of february.
I was promised the others will be in stock by the mid march and will be delivered on calling back i was told that the beds were not in stock until end of march and a new date of mid April for delivery. The customer service centre in Doncaster do employ some staff who should not be let lose on the phone, it was appalling and when i went back in the store the manager could not be bothered to look into the situation.
If you are planning on buying anything be aware because it might not arrive when you want it and no one in the store/customer service centre would care enough to help sort it out. One of the customer service agent even threatened to refund my money if i was not satisfied with what she was telling me.
Dont get me wrong good quality but customer service and organisation is appalling.0 -
I know my follow up post is almost a year later, but i considering Ilva are going belly up, i feel the need to speak.
On every occassion i've been to Ilva the store never feels occupied by patrons. Ikea is a mad rush on every occassion. Altho Ikea and Ilva are not the same in terms of product, Ilva seems to have aimed to be the next John Lewis for furnishings or Habitat or Heals.
Like OMO, i too had bad experiences with customer services. Our sofas turned up 4 months late and worse still were left outside (Ilva said it could be dismantled in the Ilva truck). It took 4 months, 3 days off work (as they promised to deliver but didnt) and countless calls not to mention stress to get what we ordered. Compensation? None what so ever, not even an apology from the store manager - actually we are still waiting for him to call back - like that will ever happen.
I think Ilva lacked marketing in a big way and customer service in an even greater way. When there is so much choice around, companies must differentiate and stand out.0 -
It was a great experience to have ilva ,one must try it and post or share the feeling with all.i am sure you will enjoy its presence.
