Lighting Direct

I ordered a month or so ago - no delivery forthcoming, so i cancelled my order. I had paid by PayPal, but received no refund. I emailed to complain a number of times, and each time was promised a refund (but nothing was paid).
I then sent a further email, telling them that I wished to place a larger order (which of course I didn't), but was holding back on doing so because of the outstanding refund, and my concern that the (expensive!) items may not be in stock. Lighting Direct replied within 5 minutes - they refunded my PayPal account, and assured me that any large order I placed would be delivered within 2 working days.0 -
I ordered a light from Lighting Direct at the end of July, but it was never delivered, so I contacted the company but could never get through by telephone. Emails were always the same standard bulls**t - We have been having some problems with our system, or suppliers, or staff, etcetc. I was advised by Consumer Direct to send a registered letter to the company in Watford, which I did, but it couldn't be delivered due to no-one being at the premises. The letter was returned to me a week later.:(0

I too have been done by Lighting Direct. I ordered four lights for £138 on the 2nd of July and have been fobbed off with emails every since the last one on the 22nd of August saying I would receive my lights by the end of the week. Now the contact telephone numbers don't work and the emails bounce back. I got the same reply off trading standards saying deliver a recorded letter but after reading this forum seems like that will be a waste of time. I have also just found out that HSBC don't protect you for internet shopping even if you use their credit card so I am truly stuffed. I rang and reported the problem to Sage pay

and they told me that the bank account for the company has not been shut down so you need to get in touch with your bank regardless of what card you paid with and they should be able to action a charge back to get you your money back from the company. I'll try that today and let you know how I get on. The Sage pay man was very nice and well worth a call he made me feel better.0 -
Important Notice
We have been experiencing a disruption to our services. This should be resolved by Monday 13th September 2010 and expect normal service to be resumed after that. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Do we believe them? I don't as I have had no confirmation or notifications regarding where my amazingly over due delivery is!

I received this auto e-mail reply from Lighting Direct this morning:
'We have been experiencing some trading problems over the past few weeks which has led to a disruption to our services. We are pleased to announce that Lighting Direct will be under new management from Monday 13th September 2010. We will endeavour to clear all back orders as soon as possible so please bear with us'
I wonder............................0 -
As I posted previously, I was told by Hertfordshire Trading Standards that an officer had visited Lighting Direct's address, and had found it shut up, with uncollected mail and the locks changed by the landlord. That is the address Lighting Direct still quote on their web site.Where are people getting the info about lighting direct being dormant and is it true? Has anyone had any joy actually finding this guy or his company?
I suggest you speak to Trading Standards yourself: they are on 0845 404 0506.0 -

It doesn't say new management on the website.
This is, by the way, the website that does not comply with Company Law in that it does not give the registered details of the business. Any references to Lighting Direct Ltd are a lie as it is a dormant company. See Company number 3376379. All it is is a £4 dormant company.
They have also pulled their VAT number off the site.
If we get our money returned it will be a miracle.
I am asking Hertfordshire Trading Standards why it has allowed a company to operate with such a flagrant disregard for the law.0
