Cash 4 Clothes
Comments
-
Hi all, just wanted to add a few things to this thread. I used the branch of cash4clothes in High Wycombe today. Minimal fuss, once we found it, the bags were quickly checked through and only stuff that was torn or had paint on it etc were taken out. Paid what they said on the sign (50p a kilo) on the spot.
Finding the HW Branch:
If anyone else needs to find it, the directions on the site are a little off. The postcode is HP13 5HP and it is round past Jewsons on Bellfield Road. Plug the following coordinates into Google Maps to get a more accurate location than the postcode: 51.63494,-0.755134 (use the green arrow rather than whatever Google says is the nearest point of interest. Street View doesn't even reach up there!)0 -
Hi,
I appreciate I am only 2 years late replying to this thread but I was very interested in some of the comments I read on here.
Having opened a Cash 4 Clothes shop almost a year ago I can understand why some people may worry they are a scam, however I can assure you I am possibly one of the most honest people out their.... All items I buy in are weighed using trading standards scales and all items are sent abroad, NOTHING is ever pulled out of the bags for ebay or any other sales.
I actually work with a number of charity shops in the area, donating items to them which I cannot send abroad and buying in the clothes they cannot sell on to the public.
Yes this is big business now, however this is something which has been going on for many years. When we have left clothes in charity bags on our doorsteps in the past, these clothes were 9 times of 10 been sold abroad in the exact same manner and only a small percentage of the money made on one tonne would be donated to the charity on the bag.... With this why shouldn't you have something back from the clothes you have paid out for? We don't all have the time and patience for ebay, car boots etc.
Sign of the times, we all need to make money....0 -

I sell clothes regularly on eBay but there are some items that will just not sell on eBay due to age/condition/weight so I recently took two binbags of clothing to a cash for clothes type shop and got 60p per kg, nearly £12, I do also donate to charity shops eg books/toys etc but times are hard why shouldn't we try and raise cash in every way possible0 -

I 100% agree with you, I think its a great place to bring the items that you wouldn't be able to sell else where.
I have one lady who has managed to fund a new dining table and a new carpet with all the clothes she has cashed in over the last 6 months. I like to think the service I offer is helping many customers, where else could you sell the old dated heavy curtains.0 -
Last Monday i did a internet search and found a cash4clothes site in Wolverhampton offering to purchase clothes for cash at 50p per kilo. I arrived and unloaded 6 bags which were duly weighed with a total of 42Kg. It was only then that the guy told me that although it was 12.00 i would have to come back at 4.30 for the money. By now it was to late i had unloaded the car so i agreed to come back. The guy then reached for his calculator and worked out i was due £12 and not the £21 i was expecting. When I challenged the guy he said it was up to 50p per kilo and he was working on 30p per kilo, when i moaned he upped the offer to £16.80 He also tried to get me to loan him £3 until i was getting paid out. I arrived back at the yard about 4.20 only to be told they guy was on his way. Finally got paid at 5.00
There were about 5 or 6 waiting to get paid and some were only getting a few pounds.
Please do not think about trying this place and i will be taking anymore to the local charity shop next time. I think the guy realises that some people will not hang around for the few pounds hence the delays in getting paid.
Avoid at all costs.
I understand Wolverhampton on Steel Drive is now under new Management and non of the above will be repeated, the new owner and his staff look after his customers and money will always be given at 50p per KG for all acceptable textiles and shoes on sale of the items.Hope this helps everyone

I have expensive digital scales that weigh 100% accurately and I gave a bag of clothes that wieghed 10.5 kilos and they only gave me the price of 9.5 kilos. When I queried it he said the bag wieght has to be deducted. Since when has a black thin bin liner weighed 1 kilo?? If they short change everybody then they will make an even bigger profit that they do already. He said my scales must be wrong so I had to accept it. He would not return the clothes because he had already put it in his big van! They are dishonest and rip you off so next time I will rather give them to charity.0

I downloaded and printed a police/council doorstep sticker from my council pages. This saves ANY confusion and no one rings my bell and if any idiot ignores it and insists on pushing a grovelling "donation binbag" through, I bin the actual bag without even reading what probable fake charity it is from.
In black bold font it says ATTENTION -NO COLD CALLING! ALL UNINVITED TRADERS PLEASE LEAVE NOW. WE DO NOT BUY, SELL OR DONATE ON OUR DOORSTEP. YOU MAY BE COMMITTING A CRIMINAL OFFENCE IF YOU FAIL TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS REQUEST TO LEAVE. THANKS FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION.
There is the council symbol and the police coat of arms and trading standards logo on.
GET ONE ON YOUR DOOR!!
.....even though this thread is 3 yrs old lolNB...People online who are here asking advice for "my friend" they really mean "myself" :eek:0 -
I've held on to a leaflet I had through the door, its titled Cash 4 Clothes, they pay 40p per kg on the spot. The van is in my area every Thursday and you just phone, text or email asking for collection.
I think its nationwide as the address given is in Essex, but I'm a long way from there.
Phone number is 01708 689984 and email is register@ecexport.com.
Hope it helps, I thought it was great to raise a bit of spending money for my kids holiday as i have 4 bin bags full so have booked a collection.
Why not just give the stuff to a charity shop? You'll have to give the Cash4 lot a LOT of binbags of stuff to get - well, not a lot of money really!
I hate these cash4clothes type outfits, there's one near where I live and they really take the P - I was offered £1something for a big bag of clothes which they lobbed a pair of leather boots into before weighing, and they payed more per kilo than the company you mention - and basically compete with charity shops which I think is a real shame.
Lots of charity shops will come and collect if you have a decent amount of stuff to give.
I'm on a low income with no transport myself but I just begrudge giving to these ripoff merchants, loads of stuff for peanuts.*Look for advice, not 'advise'*
*Could/should/would HAVE please!*

I haven't visited this forum for a while. But I did post a review link of cash4clothes in Birmingham on this post. I hope some people had a better experience then I did. If you have any questions that are still relevant after all this time just let me know. Thanks.0
