Cash 4 Clothes

Options
I've held on to a leaflet I had through the door, its titled Cash 4 Clothes, they pay 40p per kg on the spot. The van is in my area every Thursday and you just phone, text or email asking for collection.

I think its nationwide as the address given is in Essex, but I'm a long way from there.

Phone number is 01708 689984 and email is register@ecexport.com.

Hope it helps, I thought it was great to raise a bit of spending money for my kids holiday as i have 4 bin bags full so have booked a collection.

That would be ok if you have heavy items such as jackets and jeans, but I can't see you making much, not enough for spending money for holiday anyway. Let us know how it goes.

if there paying 40p per kilo on the spot you can be sure it's worth a lot more than

The company e c export were successfully prosecuted for illegal charity collections. Personally I wouldn't touch them any company that pretends to be a charity is a no no in my book.
    Prosecution of E&C Export Ltd

The company was successfully prosecuted by Cardiff Council (South Wales) on 21 May 2009 for undertaking illegal [charitable] clothing collections in Cardiff on 28 January 2009. The company was fined £750 in Cardiff magistrates' court.

The investigation was carried out by the licensing section of the Council. We understand the prosecution was brought using the House to House Collections Act 1939.

For more on this prosecution, see the relevant page in the 'News archive' section of Cardiff Council's website, entitled: 'Company fined for illegal clothing collections' :

    https://www.cardiff.gov.uk/content.asp?nav=2874,4202,4203&parent_directory_id=2865&id=8592&Language=

Extracts from the Council's page :

"The bags claimed that E&C Export Ltd gave financial support to the Children's Heart Surgery Fund based in Leeds. However the charity confirmed that due to past problems with E&C Export Ltd, it had disassociated itself from the company in November 2008." . . .

"Councillor Ed Bridges, Chair of the [Council's] Public Protection Committee, said: 'This case is particularly unpleasant as the company concerned misled residents into thinking they were giving to a charity. This is in effect stealing from genuine charities.' "

There is no mention of any charity on the leaflet, I assumed it was for their own profit. The amount of money I will make will be small, but its for my children to save rather than donating to a charity shop for nothing. There are quite a few pairs of shoes in the bags which adds weight.

A lot of charities also make their money this way (and sell on all the scrap clothes by the kg), so basically they're a company taking from charities for their own profit!

I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole, and charities can happily have my clothes to sell in their shops or sell for scrap.

(and believe me, I bet they'll route through all your clothes and sell anything decent on their ebay shop!)

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Fine, thats your choice. Others may want to use it though.

You would be better of e-baying the stuff or even selling the clothes as a joblot for a carbooter for £10.

Don't they get about £700 per tonne when they sell it on? Think i heard that on one of these police shows when they caught someone who was stealing charity bags people had left out.
But then I don't know if there is anyone else who would buy it for more that 40p, never heard of anyone buying clothing before.

    Is it this company? http://www.cashforclothing.co.uk/

Cant be bothered with Ebay, forget I mentioned it. I just wanted some cash for my kids for a load of clothes taking up space. I had already arranged for collection and know someone else who has already used them.

Selling clothing by weight is not a good idea unless you are going to throw out the clothes anyway, a friend of mine sold 6 blacks bags full to the brim...some nice brands too and they gave her £24!!!!!
But its a useful service if like my friend you would have put them in the recycling bin and got nothing for them
