There's chocolate cake in the office, I may have to indulge!
Well if someone went to the effort of bringing it in it'd be rude not to

Hi Beanie. Have missed you heaps! Glad you enjoyed France. Mum has offered to have Nathan for our anniversary so we're off to Paris (or maybe Krakow!) for a few days:D. Its the first anniversary we'll have been able to celebrate together now exams etc are all out of the way:eek:

Mum is kind of p'ing me off at the minute. Dad has put back on the weight he lost when he first got told he was diabetic. He's basically been told to lose weight or die! So they know about diet etc and just need to get back on the wagon (essentially need to follow a low GI diet as far as I can tell to manage glucose levels - makes sense) but they also need to exercise. But whenever I make suggestions its all negative defensive stuff and not even listening to what I say. Classic example:

Me: Just try and fit in half an hour of exercise a day
Mum: Its all very well for you but we can't just go and start slinging weights around and pounding out miles on the treadmill
Me: Er that's not what I suggested but you need to do something to get started for exampl..(mum cuts me off here)
Mum: We're old enough to sort ourselves out thank you

    !!!!!! I was only trying to help!:mad::(

On the plus side Dad has a very healthy heart, no cholesterol problem and scored top marks for back strength and flexibility:D

    Sorry - rant over:o

(Thanks for the congrats - And to clarify its only a sorta kinda promotion;) - end of probation on 20th but job title changing, perks being added and (i'm guessing as the chat hasn't been had yet) probably more cash at the next review))

No Jaffa cakes, only toffee crisps mm! Thanks for being so welcoming. Having a really tough time lately and don't feel like I'm only 20... I have to restart my degree because of family circumstances meant I had to leave my first year early so unplanned. Which means another year in cruddy halls because me and oh will never save up enough money for a flat deposit in London in.. two months :(. Onwards and upwards as they say... xx

I'm in a similar situation. My OH's a student in London, living in halls, and wants us to move in together next year over there. I live in Bath and am re-sitting the last year of my degree as an 'assessment only' student (basically, no lectures, I just do the essays I should have done last year :() whilst working full time delivering pizzas for Domino's. I'm planning on doing a PGCE next year which is quite well funded since it's RE which is a priority subject but how he thinks we're going to afford our own flat in London, I have no idea. He's got a rich dad who pays for a lot of stuff but he's trying to get away from that for personal reasons. I can't help but think he's in for a bit of a shock when he does.

Oh shock indeed! My OH is 23 and works full time, on about 15k a year before tax *sigh*. I sometimes feel like life isn't worth living, even though I'm only 20 grr. Everything gets me down, I'm constantly taking steps backwards instead of forward. I have no job which means I can't save any money for uni, my parents are far from rich too. I apply for every job going but time is running out :(. I've suffered from cancer and it still effects me so I'm wondering if I can get any extra funding. Please don't judge me, I'd never think about it unless I was as desperate as I currently am!! xx

I am not a frog...I am a card carrying NINGA by the way.

Tea...you are only 20. I know it seems like an age...but you have years ahead of you yet. I have changed career a couple of times and I am still sudying at 45!!

You are in the right place here though, we will keep you on the straight and narrow...

Well some may lead you astray!

Tea, I've remembered, it was the fashion chat I think? :)

Re the funding, definitely go for anything you can find - have you tried searching for scholarship funds etc online? There are all sorts of things out there that can give a bit of money to help, some of them have quite specific criteria like you have to come from a certain area, or your parents worked in a certain industry but it's worth a look - can be a bit of a slog to look through them all though!
