Your article above (not gonna quote it) relates to the Prius, not the Aygo.

So your wife is at fault, not Toyota.

    Of course Toyota is.
But I can repeat it is not the subject of this topic to clarify who is guilty. The question is what can be better way to sort it out.

    This situation can happen again.

    Any sensible thoughts?

Take it back to the dealer if you believe there is a fault.

OP, just because your car is not involved in any recall it doesn't stop you from taking it in to your dealer to have the brakes/brake pedal looked at, if you really think there's a problem with it.

    Thank you.

If it was an Aygo then it won't have the problem found on the Prius.

This was where i was going with my original question.

Yeah I made an assumption that it was a Prius, should have realised from the state of the thread that it could just as easily have been a bicycle.

The article was given for those who didn't understand the case. You are free to replace Prius with Augo. And them it will work because it was only an article explaining the matter of the problem. It can happen on other model and car brand.

    Utter rubbish.

    Are you being serious?

I am rather experienced driver but I tend to believe her because I used her car last weekend and had the same problem. Once when driving I had literally missed BOTH brakes and acceleration pedals on a couple of seconds. Hopefully the situation on the road was OK and I had finally "found" pedals but it was terrible felling.
It could look absurd but it was real accident.

I think that the car manufacturer is responsible for this fault. I don't want to lose NCB bonus as well.
Could someone advice on this case? What is the better way to deal with it? How can I claim the car issue?

So you KNEW there was a problem with the brakes but let your wife drive?
How can this possibly be the manufacturer's fault?
Why didn't you take the car to the garage??

Let's assume there is/was a fault with the car - you knew about it but did nothing.
On th other hand there may be nothing wrong with the car. I read recently that toyota had examined every single car that had alleged brake problems and been in an accident. It was quite a few cars but the number escapes me. The total number of faults found was miniscule

EDIT : found an interesting link http://www.businessweek.com/lifestyle/content/feb2010/bw20100225_403524.htm

    2nd EDIT : another link - 2000 cars inspected by Toyota....no faults found http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/toyota-us-death-toll-is-increased/250001

This is a very good point.

Perhaps the wife will sue the OP for reckless endangerment?
