iTunes v7 - Stuttering playback issue - Any ideas?

Hi all, yesterday I downloaded and installed v7, but for some reason I'm experiencing stuttering during playback of tracks.

This didn't occur in the previous version at all.

Does anyone know if this is a known issue, and whether there are any fixes available?

Sheesh, listening to my podcasts is like listening to aliens talking.

  • Are you running something at the same time such as Nero? Sounds like itunes doesnt have a lot of CPU dedicated to it so it's struggling to process the information in real time.

Try and do ctrl alt del to get to task manager.. right mouse click on itunes.exe and set it to "high priority"... see if that helps?

Is it all songs or just a podcast or what...

Could alwyas roll back too :)

Apparently it is riddled with bugs and problems. Check out the forums on https://www.iLounge.com
Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????
  • Nothing processor intensive is running in the background.

I've just given iTunes a high priority and all's well thus far, but it was also ok for a spell before I changed its priority for CPU resource.

I'll see how it goes :)

    Thanks for that.

P.s. All songs, not just a podcast.
  • If it works on high priority then you can always keep it on that :) Just whatever you do in the background will go slower.

This is more of a troubleshooting tool though. We can now see it is 100% to do with not enough processing power going to Itunes automatically (watch someone still blame something like your RAM :p)

Personally mine's fine... it can't be too much of a coding bug otherwse everyone would have the same problem really so I don't know what to suggest... jsut double check you dont have spyware and things running in the background inc live virus scans etc....

At least it works now though ^-^

I've had the same problem listening to some podcasts. Everything was fine before 7.0 but now it tends to stutter even with no other application open. There's definitely something up with the coding.

Yes, from reading the iloung.com forums, many people are experiencing the stutter.

Strange thing is, I've just set the priority of iTunes back to normal, and it's still fine. Same number of non-processor-intensive applications running in the background.

    How bizzare.
  • For anyone else experiencing the stuttering problem, try this

  • superscraper do you use an ipod?

The error would be to do with that if you've plugged it during itunes and not shut it down from itunes properly etc... Can't think what else though. It must be trying to do something it doesnt normally to clos.e

No I don't have an ipod. I only really use itunes to subscribe to podcasts. This again has only happened since upgrading to 7.0. I've tried reinstalling it but it does the same thing.
