As for the fault, if it permanently blows hot then its quite obvious that the valve which controls the flow of hot/cold water is not operating.
Easily.
Its a 10 year old car therefore by the SOGA one would expect some minor faults, by the O/P's own admission the fault didnt manifest itself until a month after they bought it, so it wasnt there when the car was sold, which is the only other avenue the O/P could have tried.

Lots of words but it answers nothing.0 -

I'll use less words for you then, if that paragraph was too much for you.
Under the SOGA for a car of this is it would be accepted that it will have have some 'minor' defects. It would also have to be proven that the fault was there at the time of sale. The O/P has already said that the fault only occured one month on.
that is to say, the dealer is not responsible for every single fault that may occur subsequently on a 10 year old car
Is that simpler for you?0 -
Well, many varied opinions aren't there?
Have had it checked by Ford and it is a heater control valve which we CAN get fixed under warranty. I shall get my 'banger' fixed and hope one day I can afford a newer car, and then not have to worry about it going wrong. I only asked to find out whether something I bought (regardless of age) would be covered under SOGA. A simple yes or no would have sufficed.
Thanks anyway.0
