If you put the aircon on, and have the dial set in the blue section, it'll blow cold.
If you put the aircon on (provided the engine is warm), and the dial is in the red section, it'll blow hot.
You can have hot and cold aircon.
Wow Gordon, thanks for clearing that up for me, and all this time we thought they put the colours on to make it look pretty....
Hence why I think it is broken as when it is in the BLUE section it is blowing HOT air. Clear enough?
Look guys I know it's an old car, but it's less than a month after I purchased it, that is why I ask the question. However, with this much animosity I wonder now why I bother.
I guess I'll keep my mouth shut in future. I guess I'll just JOG ON....0 -

You didn't specify that. Exactly why you were asked for more info. "Blowing hot" isn't a specific enough symptom.
Find out whether all it needs is a re-gas or if it's something more, like the compressor etc Then you'll know more and can go to the dealer with a little more that "it's blowing hot".0 -
Now now ladies, handbags at dawn and all that. I dont know about where you live but in my small market town (Newark On Trent) there are at least 4 guys that deal with air-con. You will probably habve one close to you that can simply test it. And NO it wont be covered by warranty sorry.'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.
I have opinions, you have opinions. All of our opinions are valid whether they are based on fact or feeling. Respect other peoples opinions, stop forcing your opinions on other people and the world will be a happier place.0 -
If it's blowing hot it's more than likely not an air con problem at all, could just be a heater fault, something as simple as a faulty switch or valve. You're probably gonna have to pay to get it fixed but don't be worrying, automatically expecting a huge air con repair bill. Heater controls are just the same as equivalent year Fiesta so should be easy enough to repair.
Good luck,

Its a 10 year old car. SOGA would expect it to have faults. Costs £40 for a re-gas. Just get it done.0 -

Sounds like the usual ford heater valve failure.0

When i part x'd my old car the guy was a small time dealer, Buys a couple of cars from auctions and sells them on.
Anyway he asked if the aircon worked i said no, He still advertised it with aircon. I was waiting for the new owner to
contact me with a list of faults the car had & if i had declared them to the dealer.
I am quite fussy & picky though, When looking to change cars i said the engine has a small rattle, Several said lets have a listen
and asked where the noise was, Well i can hear it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

So if we take this argument to it's conclusion; everything has to work on a banger before a dealer can sell it?0
