It is certainly 41.3p/kWh and 3p/kWh for 50%(or actual amount instead of 50% if you have an export meter).

I expect someone in Tesco hasn't realised that FITs are paid for those who installed PV after July 2009. They probably are thinking of the pre FIT days where you could get different prices for exported electricity.

Someone else has reported that Npower have said you must be on Standard tariff for FIT payments. Even allowing for it being Npower!! I can't think that is correct - confusion rules!

This is what it says on tesco's website:

It is advised that you contact your current electricity supplier and research others to benefit from the most competitive rate. Tesco shall advise you of what to expect and what information they will need to hand (see steps 2 &3)

    Well that is either rubbish.

    OR

They mean 'the most competitive rate' that you will pay for your mains electricity.

Agreed that it is badly written.

can anyone tell me about claiming the FIT and how difficult is it.
tesco say that you need to ring round all the energy companys to get the best payment as they pay different amounts for the FIT.?
i thought it was the same amount from them all 41.3p plus 3p export (@50% of total gen)

and if you are with npower on sol 20 tariff, is it true that if you are to claim the FIT, you will have to go onto the standard tariff (more expensive)

    I'm with NPower

They pay the 41.3 p rate (that Cardew quoted) till 1st of April when it increases.

You have to register with them when you first get up and running by ringing up there Micro gen department, they send you a basic form to fill in.

They ask you for a generation reading every quarter then send you a cheque in the post.

It shouldn't matter what price plan you are on, I think that Tesco's are misinformed. Hope this helps.

One point that got me was that I wasn't able return the application form as quickly as I liked due to a spell in hospital. I was honest in my reading of the generation meter and they start the FIT calculation from then even though the meter when installed was zero.

    Hi Slacky

    I can definitely help here.

I had the same problem when I got my panels installed last July. The failing meter was less than a year old but it was still incompatible with Micro gen. I phoned up NPower and they sent an engineer round to change the meter. I now have one with a picture of a ratchet on it i.e the meter cannot go backwards.

Every thing works fine now. Hope this helps.

Just been told that the job to poss change the meter has been cancelled, no notice I rang because they was late and now told by BG it's cancelled by onstream who fit the meters because the rED is normal if you have panels and this flashes to basically show that the meter is registering the reverse energy but it isn't going backward. So BG are happy with this so we will carry on with this meter.

Has no one else had this issue?

Does it still give a reading though?

My meter wasnt metering or giving a reading anymore just flashing "Red", they had to estimate what it used for the time it was faulty.

I registered about 3 weeks after the system was installed; but I don't feel I'm losing out: the 25 years of (index-linked & tax free) FIT payments starts from when you register, not from the installation date.

So you get the full 25 years of FITs, and the index-linking means that you don't lose out by delaying the registration.

That having been said: the panels' efficiency may be less after 25 years; or the weather then might be worse than now.
