    Hi

    1. That seems to make the installation quite expensive for a 3.3kWp system then ! ;)

    2. Are you sure ? ...... HMRC guidance would include 'If you supply energy-saving materials without installing them your supply is standard-rated.' .... It is likely that HMRC would see the buy-out as a sale of capital business assets not as a new installation, which would/should attract VAT at the full prevailing rate (20%), it would therefore be reassuring to see/provide any specific guidance which has been provided by HMRC regarding this issue, if any has been requested.

    Regards
What would you expect a system of that size to cost

The cost of my 2.6kw system is £10,600 + vat

For folk who are interested or have been following the progress of this. I have put the November FITS income figures for the three domestic PV plants from the case study up on:-

    https://www.uksolarcasestudy.co.uk

You will see that I am working on a page 2 that gives more info on the power plants and figures in KWh, but its still under construction so please ignore for the moment.

£15,600 EvoEnergy, Nottingham very professional company:) at end June this year. Large company who deal with planning, installation, electric company, very quick getting certificate through so I could start claiming FiTs - thoroughly recommend them.

    Hi Fundire

Ploughcroft charged me about the same as your guys. The installation was back in June.

I have Fixed page 2 now.

On this section of the site I will include more info about the systems, the monthly KWhs (rather than income) and how they are progressing in terms of meeting the expected yearly outputs that were specified by the installers (on the Micro Generation Scheme certificate).

Of course it is - momentary lapse of concentration. I don't think that's a million miles away from what you'd pay from a private contractor - Tesco are charging £9999 for 2.1kwp - without any free/buy in offers.

I guess that makes the Homesun free offer the most attractive at the moment, if you sell your buyer can chose to purchase the panels and take advantage of the FiT.

Mind you - I'm not entirly convinced with what the homesun guy said about Vat - my understanding was that is it isn't new then vat is 17.5% soon to be 20%.

On another note - my Sharp panels, covered in about an inch of snow generated .2kwh in 2 hours this afternoon. They were 90% covered in snow but the top of the top string had about 6" that had melted - I've always understood that if any part of the panel was covered/shaded none of the rest of the string would generate electricity .....

  • Well I will only go ahead if the £5 a month is dropped but getting that answer is taking a little while. :(
