    Hi Krish

As it's been raised a couple of times, could you also clarify the basis of the buy-out option if that was an eventual requirement ..... I believe that it's been stated that the fee is based on a straight-line depreciating value, but perhaps you could provide example buyout figures for a typical system for various years (1,5,10,20 ?)

    Regards

    Hi zeupater,

For example: £15,000+VAT as the starting price and straight line depreciation over 25 years. This gives a system price reduction of £600/yr – so after 1 year the price would be £14,400+VAT; after 5 years £12,000+VAT; after 10 years £9,000+VAT and after 20 years £3,000+VAT.

    Hope this helps.

Krish, Even though you have a website, some us are just keen to see what others have to say about a product or service and ultimately the results before many of us will commit to anything (That's just the way we are I'm afraid) therefore Its good to see you as a rep from homesun dealing and supplying with information to us who are interested in your products and services. Keep up the good work. :-)

I've always received a glowing service from you by the way.

:xmassign: to you and the rest of your team.

    Hi ilovegreen,

It is always nice when a customer takes the time to provide a positive response to the service they have received during their dealings with the Company and your comments are greatly appreciated.

    Many Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, why are you only offering some customers like myself the no £500 fee for solar share?? And is the £5 a month fee for everyone as well? Or are some customers not being charged this?

    Hi slacky555,

HomeSun's aim is to bring free and low cost solar to as many homes as possible - all funded by the Feed in Tariffs. Not all roofs/houses are equally viable for solar - some don't face exactly the right direction, some are smaller than others, some are in sunnier parts of the country than others and some are more difficult to install solar on than others (e.g. Those with slate roofs or those requiring more complex scaffolding). When deciding whether to install or not on a particular roof, HomeSun needs to consider the expected power generation of that system over it's life against the costs to install - which depends on all these factors. By charging some customers a small upfront amount and/or a contribution towered the maintenance of the system, we are able to bring lower electricity bills to households / roofs which would not be viable as entirely free systems.

Ok but this is not stated anywhere in any paper work I was left and your rep has never mentioned this to me, that there is a possiblity that I may not be charged either the £500 or the £5. In my case the £500 charge has been dropped and hopefully your rep is waiting to hear from her manager today ( as she has another visit with me tomorrow) if I can get the £5 a month dropped.

As many people have pointed out on here the average saving is between £80 and £120 a year, if you are wanting to charge someone possibly the full cost i.e the £500 and the £5 a month it could take them over 10 years before they save a penny.

And as you have suggested the reason why you charge this is due to the system possibly not being able to produce enough solar power due to location, so if that is the case and also it's a smaller system installed they may not save anything for many more than the 10 years I have suggested!

Do you think that is fair??

    Hi slacky555,

Depending on the variables mentioned in my previous post to you, I'm sure you will agree that we can but only take each property/roof on a case by case basis.

Can you please PM me your details so that I can have a chat with the SS about this and I will ask her/him to contact you.

    Thanks

    Cheers Jonathan

I will PM my details now but can't you agree that at the very earliest/best any customer that does pay for solar share it will be around the 10 year mark.

    Hi Krish

    Thanks for the feedback.

Can you clarify a couple of questions which arise from the post ...

    1. The Initial starting price of £15,000 - What size installation would this figure be based on ?.

    2. The prices mentioned are all exclusive of VAT. Considering that the special VAT available for MCS solar pv installations (5%) is only available when initially purchasing a new, complete and fitted system, can you please clarify whether the buy-out VAT payable to a business for it's assets will be at the special rate, or the standard rate prevailing at the time of purchase (ie 20% after 04/01/2011) ?.

    Hi zeupater,

    1. For this price it could be a 3.3 to 3.5 system. (This can change, so please don't hold this against me in the future) :)

    2. This would be the standard prevailing rate for solar pv (5%) unless the government decides to change this in the future.

    Thanks

I hope to have my answers today and hope we can move forward with the install.

    Hi

    1. That seems to make the installation quite expensive for a 3.3kWp system then ! ;)

    2. Are you sure ? ...... HMRC guidance would include 'If you supply energy-saving materials without installing them your supply is standard-rated.' .... It is likely that HMRC would see the buy-out as a sale of capital business assets not as a new installation, which would/should attract VAT at the full prevailing rate (20%), it would therefore be reassuring to see/provide any specific guidance which has been provided by HMRC regarding this issue, if any has been requested.
