Had 3.96 system fitted 28th June.
Our roof was a steeper pitch (46 deg) than the optimum, but because of this we are hoping we may gain on the lower angle of the winter sun.
We are in Sunny Scunny.
We have discovered that the top of a bloomin great poplar tree actually shadows our panels for a short time, as the sun is lower now, but luckily its later in the afternoon - which is gutting. Its quite a distance from our roof as well.
Nang, I'll email you with figures for our system tomorrow.
i think i can hear the sound of that new CHAIN SAW you have just bought i wonder if there is anything you can try it out on.
I wonder!!!!!:rotfl:0 -

First week's kwh after rain most days - 31.5. Slightly more than pvgis has estimated and mcuh to my disgust I discovered that the trees that I thought were too far away to have an impact were actually shading sun until about 10, worse still the flipping telephone wire runs across the top string of panels
My fault completely - trees coming down this weekend (OH wanted them down ages ago) and seriously considering having the phone wire moved - BT cut is off last time instead of moving it so I'm leaving it for a while.
Quite pleased with the first week's figures all things considered.

Isis have contacted me to explain that my property isn't suitable because they want "one or two story properties with near due south facing pitched roofs of 30m² or larger."
Well, the rear of my pitched roof faces due South and is easily 30 sq.m (although not 30m² as this equates to 900 sq.m and I would need to live in a castle to achieve this. I assume this 'requirement' is down to Isis' lack of knowledge of area notation!).
I replied to their email setting them straight, but have heard nothing since.
Has anybody else had this 'fob off,' or do you think it's a genuine error?

does the bt wire realy make a difference (omg) 5mm thick take off that much sun.
what about the birds sitting on the roof? should i shoot them if they are causing a shaddow?0 -

It does make a difference but to what degree remains to be seen.
If a bird stays on a panel for 30 seconds I wonder how that compares shadow wise with a wire for 24 hours :rotfl:no doubt someone will have a go at working it out. Saw a picture recently of a cat lying flat on his back on the panels.
Micro inverters are going to be the answer in the near future, shading on one panel won't stop the others from working - it will open the market up to a lot of people who can't tap into solar at the minute.Target of wind & watertight by Sept 20110 -

Re the cat:
I think it must have been raining cats and dogs at some point
and as for the shadow from the wire for 24 hrs i think we can safely
discount the night hours as this wont make any difference.
but please tell me more about the Micro inverters i am realy intrested in that.
do you mean ( say plugging in lots of 12v grid tie inverters to each panel?):beer:0
