Have at last received copies of the contract for the free installation with ISIS. Going to read through them this weekend. Actually think my husband has grave misgivings now.0

Does anyone know how ASG route their wiring into the supply line?
Presumably, the invertor would be mounted in the roof space, and a power lead then run (down the outside of the house??) and somehow then connected into the outside meter box or house fusebox??0 -
Nothing to do with any of the above, but - ref Composition of Expired Air:-

Just had an email from ASG to say the roof failed calculations by an independent structural engineer. Rather embarrassing as their own surveyor said everything was fine and the panels should be fitted in November.0

Thats a real bummer. I had my survey done on friday, the surveyor said it all looked ok but he said that even if the survey comes out ok it was still down to the decision of the strucutural engineer who would do some calcs based on the measurements the surveyor took in my loft, so perhaps the bloke who did your survey should have said that. I was really pleased with the bloke who came to do my survey he was v informative - he said that I'd get an email in about 7-14 days saying if it was ok or not and that if is was ok the survey is then sent to the structural engineer and his decision can be another 14 days after that. Fingers crossed!0 -
I contacted Isis Solar and pinpointed my house using the Google Earth facility. Isis eventually e-mailed me to say that my property did not fill their criteria ie. roughly south facing pitched roof oof at least 30m sq. I DO fulfill this criteria and have informed them so on two occassions. No reply.....I believe that, because I have a small farm in the far west of Wales, they do not feel inclined to travel this far out for what is potentially a 'one off'. I would have preferred it if they were more honest and upfront!

Hi
We recently had British Gas out to look at our house for the free solar panels on thier 'rent a roof scheme', and our house does qualify.
Does anyone have any experience of the scheme - good or bad

I don't think anyone has yet had the BG system fitted - or it will only be very recently.
'A Shade Greener' were the first firm to start installing I believe, around June largely in the Yorkshire area.
Virtually all the reports have been positive regarding the firm, installation etc.
However it will be very difficult to ever find out just how much the system saves the house owner. Not as much I suspect as many people expect.0 -
We will find out tomorrow if the FITs are to be cut. The scheme hasn't even been in place for a year yet and already they are messing about with it. Beginning to regret putting my savings into the panels now, should have gone with A Shade Greener and let them take the risk and stress. If they are changing it so soon, what confidence do we have for the next 25 years?0

Whereabouts have you been reading about this?0
