O2 Home Broadband - would my wife count as a new customer?

Hi,
Hoping this is a quick answer from a fellow moneysaver.
We currently have O2 home broadband in my name and the existing 12 month contract has now come to an end.
I'm wondering if i can cancel my contract and then have my wife register as new customer?
As she also has an O2 mobile, she would be eligibile for the discounted monthly charge as well as quidco and 3 month's free as a new customer.
It would only work out at £15 for a year's home broadband! :j
I'm just not sure though if the household is the customer like with Sky or if the indiviudal is the customer?
Any thoughts?

If it's the same line dream on. You could try to blag another 3 months free by phoning as they used to offer that anyway.0

And if you cancel you will of course have a gap in service while you re-order-and you'll get a cease charge of around £25 for not using a MAC. Just call 'em up like kwikbreaks suggested.
If you're not already getting the £5 mobile discount, any 02 phone can be registered to qualify, it doesn't have to be yours, or even in the same household. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Yes, you're correct! Anyone can gift their mobile number to be used as a discount. However once it’s used, the person giving their mobile number for discount can’t then use it themselves as you can only have one discount for one mobile number on a broadband account.
Also this is subject to valid authorisation from the owner. Please also refer to the complete T&C’s on our website. (http://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/broadband )
Hope this info helps!

I am an official company representative of O2. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com"0 -
In theory, yes. If you cancelled and then had your wife sign up, she would indeed be counted as a new customer. However you may well have to wait for the service to actually cease before you can do that, which means you'll be without broadband for a couple of weeks. Of course, you could always call them up, tell them you're thinking of leaving and see if they'll give you a nice incentive. I did that with Sky recently and I managed to get my phone line rental free for a year0
