not when you have agoraphobia, seeing as its the 21st century I'm shocked people still dismiss it as all in the mind.
There is a huge difference - being in a room with 30 - 40 strangers, half are nasty to you, half the computers don't work & you apply for the same jobs again & again, we got in at 9.30 & often didn't get out till 4.30.
Volanteer work - the one I wanted was just proof reading forms for 3 hours a day, maybe seeing some business clients to fill in details, THERE is a difference.0 -

I'm amazed by the wrong info being given on here, I sought advice form my local CAB & a lady from Addeco put me in touch a woman she knows who is doing law & she very kindly took 10 minutes to speak in person about my situation.
my adviser said that I do the course or I go without any help & that's breaking the law I've just found out, the process goes in stages & this is my first time being over a year out of work, I would be considered a stage 1 if I'm dismissed to failed.
Also not having a lunch break is illegal which I knew already, also Kennedy scott failed to do my lap plan & explain it,also my meidcal history wasn't completed which is a serious breach on there part.
bottom line - you always have a option to go for.
Well there you go then.
So don't go and then you can quite confidently quote them the law from a person that you have met for 10 minutes.
I'm sure that you won't go without money and I'm pretty certain that your medical conditions will also fade into the background (but will make a reapperance as and when neccesary)
Job's a good 'un (or not in your case...sorry)0 -
no - wrong as usual, I've had the condition for 9 years now, it goes in phases, my doctors can back it up as I have regular mediaction & tests.
every job is different as is the person, college I enjoyed - because we learnt something, people paid for the work so they wanted to be there.0 -
I am on JSA and also volunteering- the job centre encouraged the volunteer work as it improves the chances of getting a paid job- you are usually able to apply for internal posts and also you get experience and maybe training to improve your skills.Don't get strung out by the way I look,
Don't judge a book by it's cover0 -
hmmm very suspicious, well i know that agoraphobia is a very real condition as my gran had it after my grandad passed i may have been very young when all this was happening but my gran wouldn't even go along to the shops with her friend as she had done for so many years let alone done voluntary work.
I dont think you could be seen as disabled in any sort of way for that reason you had no problems going to the jobcentre until your advisor was unhelpful i would suggest putting in a complaint if thats the case as i too have had problems with my advisor and have had mental health issues which in no way were triggered by an unhelpful person.
you have existed in day to day life with no problems up until now and that is not seen as being disabled in anyway.0 -

I'm sure these people won't want bad press & atteniton
Tbh any press attention is more likely to slate you than the DWP!
I'd be careful taking that route!0
